Asset management firm WisdomTree has announced a major expansion of its institutional tokenized funds platform, WisdomTree Connect, broadening its reach across the growing world of digital assets and decentralized finance. Initially launched on Ethereum in September 2024, the platform will now support four additional blockchain networks: Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, and Optimism.
The move positions WisdomTree at the forefront of the tokenized asset market, which has seen accelerated adoption from both institutional players and emerging blockchain platforms.
Expanding Access to Tokenized Investment Products
WisdomTree Connect currently offers a suite of 13 tokenized funds, including money market funds, equity index funds, and asset allocation products. Notable offerings include:
- WisdomTree Government Money Market Digital Fund (WTGXX): Offers exposure to short-term U.S. government securities.
- WisdomTree 500 Digital Fund and WisdomTree Technology & Innovation 100 Digital Fund: Allow institutional investors to tap into leading U.S. equity indices via tokenized assets.
The expansion enables eligible investors to access these products directly on the newly integrated blockchain networks, with support for self-custodial and third-party wallets. According to Maredith Hannon, head of digital assets business development at WisdomTree, the addition of new blockchains adds crucial flexibility and investor choice, a key factor for long-term adoption.
“Providing access across multiple chains enhances the accessibility of our funds and aligns with our commitment to innovation in digital finance,” Hannon noted.
Competing with Giants in the Tokenization Race
WisdomTree’s push into tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) comes as other financial giants—including BlackRock and Fidelity Investments—ramp up their own offerings in the space. The launch of WisdomTree Connect across five blockchain ecosystems strengthens the firm’s competitive positioning as institutional appetite for on-chain assets grows.
One example of ecosystem synergy is Ondo Finance, which collateralizes its tokenized asset OUSG using WisdomTree’s money market fund and other tokenized products from BlackRock and Franklin Templeton.
Platforms like MANTRA and Injective are also accelerating development in tokenized finance, further highlighting the shift toward multi-chain support and interoperability in the industry.
With its latest expansion, WisdomTree is betting big on the future of on-chain finance, offering tokenized exposure to traditional investment products across multiple blockchains. As the demand for transparent, flexible, and efficient financial instruments increases, this move may significantly boost WisdomTree’s assets under management (AUM) and set a new benchmark in institutional adoption of tokenized funds.
