Securitize has achieved a major regulatory milestone after receiving full approval from the European Union to operate a blockchain-based trading and settlement system. The license, granted on Nov. 26 by Spain’s National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), positions Securitize as one of the first firms authorized under the EU’s DLT Pilot Regime, a framework designed to test regulated tokenized market infrastructure across all 27 member states.
A Regulated Pathway for Tokenized Securities in Europe
With this approval, Securitize can now offer a unified environment where tokenized equities, bonds, and other financial instruments can be traded and settled directly on-chain. The system merges trading and settlement into a single distributed ledger, allowing the company to trial blockchain-enabled market functions while still operating within strict regulatory boundaries.
Under the pilot framework, Securitize may request limited exemptions from certain regulations, enabling the company to experiment with institutional-grade tokenization models without disrupting the broader financial system.
The company’s newly licensed platform will also connect directly with Securitize’s U.S. infrastructure, making it the only firm operating regulated tokenized securities systems in both the U.S. and the EU. The first tokenized issuances under this approval including on-chain funds and traditional securities are set for early 2026.
Avalanche Selected as Core Infrastructure Layer
Securitize has chosen Avalanche as the foundation for its new EU trading and settlement system. Known for its low latency and customizable execution logic, the Avalanche network is well-suited for regulated markets that require precise performance and reliability.
Avalanche has seen accelerating growth this year, especially in tokenized financial products. Large asset managers have begun deploying funds on the network, with BlackRock adding $500 million in tokenized money-market assets to Avalanche in October.
Securitize’s approval further strengthens the ecosystem by offering institutions a regulated entry point for issuing, trading, and settling tokenized assets on Avalanche. The move places the network at the center of Europe’s early-stage regulated tokenization push.
