Hyperliquid is on fire. The decentralized exchange has just posted new all-time highs in trading activity, while its native token, HYPE, is inching closer to its own price record. With momentum building across the board, the question is: can it push into uncharted territory?
Record-Breaking Volume and Fees
According to an August 15 update on X, Hyperliquid racked up an incredible $29 billion in 24-hour trading volume and $7.7 million in fees both all-time highs for the platform. The surge comes alongside rising activity across multiple metrics, signaling growing network usage and trader interest.
At the time of writing, HYPE is trading at $48.57, up 19% over the past week and 1.6% in the last 24 hours. The token now sits just 1.1% below its July 14 all-time high of $49.75, after a week of steady gains within the $40.46–$49.13 range.
Liquidity and Institutional Adoption on the Rise
DefiLlama data shows Hyperliquid’s total value locked (TVL) has surged to $610 million, up from around $460 million in mid-July. Monthly USD inflows have also exploded jumping from $21.35 million in June to a staggering $349.27 million in July.
Institutional interest is adding fuel to the fire. On July 31, Circle announced that native USD Coin (USDC) and CCTP V2 will launch on Hyperliquid, enabling direct on/off ramps, cross-chain transfers, and deeper liquidity for DeFi and derivatives markets.
Then, on August 13, Anchorage Digital Bank revealed it will provide custody services for the HYPE token, giving institutional investors a secure gateway into the HyperEVM ecosystem.
Technical Setup Points to Possible Breakout
From a technical perspective, HYPE is flashing bullish signals:
- All major moving averages from the 200-day SMA to the 10-day EMA are in “buy” mode.
- The RSI sits at 63, leaving room for more upside before hitting overbought territory.
- The MACD is in positive territory, while the stochastic oscillator at 87.81 shows sustained buying interest.
Bollinger Bands are tightening while price pushes against the upper band a classic sign that volatility is contracting ahead of a potential breakout. If HYPE closes above $49.75, upward targets could emerge at $52 and potentially $55.
On the downside, support levels are holding firm at $45, with stronger demand expected near $42 in line with the 20-day EMA and the mid-Bollinger band. The ADX suggests the trend is still young, meaning rising volume could trigger a sharper directional move.
Bottom Line:
With record trading volume, surging TVL, growing institutional adoption, and a strong technical setup, HYPE is positioned for a possible breakout. A decisive move above $49.75 could set the stage for a run toward $55 but if support at $45 fails, a deeper pullback toward $42 could be on the table.
