Bitcoin price predictions often spark debate, but EMJ Capital CEO Eric Jackson has put forward one of the boldest long-term forecasts yet: $50 million per Bitcoin by 2041. In a recent interview, Jackson outlined a thesis that dramatically reimagines Bitcoin’s role in the global financial system moving far beyond the “digital gold” narrative.
From Digital Gold to Global Collateral
Jackson believes Bitcoin is on a path to become the neutral global collateral layer supporting sovereign debt, central bank operations, and international financial markets. In his view, this shift would require Bitcoin to grow by several orders of magnitude landing at a valuation of around $50 million per coin within the next 15 years.
He compared Bitcoin’s trajectory to the evolution of financial collateral systems throughout history. Gold once served as the world’s foundational collateral layer before being replaced by the Eurodollar system in the 1960s. Today, sovereign bonds especially U.S. Treasuries form the backbone of global collateral markets.
Jackson’s thesis imagines Bitcoin eventually taking over that role: digital, borderless, politically neutral, and independent of any central bank.
Learning From Markets: His Carvana Example
The EMJ Capital CEO illustrated his thinking by referencing his investment in Carvana during its steep 2022 price decline. Despite public sentiment collapsing and analysts turning bearish, Jackson said the underlying business delivered strong customer experiences. This, he argued, helped the company rebound when the broader market regained confidence.
He sees the same psychological dynamics at play in Bitcoin: loud criticism, strong emotions, and dramatic price swings often distract from structural fundamentals.
Beyond Gold as a Value Benchmark
Jackson began his framework by asking whether Bitcoin could at least match gold’s market cap. With younger generations gravitating toward digital assets over physical stores of value, he thinks Bitcoin’s programmable, verifiable nature gives it an edge.
But his vision doesn’t stop at Bitcoin replacing gold.
“Vision 2041”: Bitcoin as the World’s Neutral Base Layer
In what Jackson calls “Vision 2041,” Bitcoin evolves into a foundational asset for global finance a base upon which balance sheets, loans, and sovereign debt are structured. He argues BTC is better suited for this role because:
- It’s digital and globally transferable
- It operates independent of central banks
- It cannot be inflated or manipulated
- It offers transparency and verifiability
Crucially, he clarified that this would not replace the U.S. dollar. Instead, Bitcoin would act as the collateral layer beneath currencies, similar to how sovereign bonds function today.
Why a $50 Million Price Tag?
If governments and central banks began using Bitcoin as collateral, the demand would be enormous. Jackson pointed to the size of global sovereign debt markets tens of trillions of dollars and argued that for Bitcoin to support such a system, each coin would need to trade at a dramatically higher value.
The math behind this logic leads him to the $50M price projection by 2041.
A Massive Leap From Where BTC Is Today
Bitcoin’s current and historical price ranges roughly $15,000 to $69,000 in recent years make Jackson’s forecast seem extreme. Still, he views it as a logical outcome if Bitcoin evolves into the backbone of global collateral markets.
Whether or not the world shifts to a Bitcoin-based collateral system, Jackson’s thesis pushes the conversation far beyond typical price speculation, suggesting a future where Bitcoin becomes essential financial infrastructure rather than just an asset or investment.
