VivoPower is officially stepping away from its Ripple Labs investment as it sharpens its focus on building infrastructure for the artificial intelligence boom.
The company announced that it will divest its Ripple stake through two transactions in South Korea, allowing it to exit digital-asset exposure without booking any losses and redirect capital toward AI-ready data centers powered by renewable energy.
How the Ripple exit is structured
As part of the deal, VivoPower will transfer a portion of its Ripple Labs shares to KWeather, a KOSDAQ-listed company. In return, VivoPower will receive a 20% equity stake in KWeather, giving it exposure to climate and energy analytics rather than blockchain assets.
The remaining Ripple shares will be sold to Lean Ventures, a partner VivoPower has been working with since late 2025.
According to the company, all transactions will be completed at market value and are subject to Ripple Labs’ internal approval process. Importantly, VivoPower said it has not incurred any realized or unrealized losses on its Ripple investment.
No more direct crypto exposure
Once the divestment is complete, VivoPower says its balance sheet will be fully free of direct digital-asset exposure. The move marks a clear strategic pivot rather than a bearish view on crypto itself.
Any remaining Ripple-related exposure will sit inside Vivo Federation, one of several non-core business units currently under strategic review. The company is also evaluating potential exits from Tembo, its electric mobility and energy infrastructure arm, and Caret Digital, which focuses on digital asset mining and renewables.
Betting on AI infrastructure instead
VivoPower’s leadership says the decision reflects where it sees long-term growth: AI-focused data centers that can deliver high-performance computing while keeping energy costs low.
The company plans to concentrate on developing data center infrastructure across the UK, Australia, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, with an emphasis on renewable power and sustainability. VivoPower holds B Corp certification and operates under a “power-to-X” strategy that integrates clean energy with large-scale computing demand.
In simple terms, VivoPower is choosing steel, servers, and power over tokens and equity stakes in crypto firms.
As AI workloads continue to explode globally, the company is positioning itself to benefit from the massive demand for reliable, energy-efficient data centers even if that means closing the chapter on Ripple and blockchain investments.
