Michael Saylor, co-founder and executive chairman of Strategy, has expressed his willingness to advise Pakistan on its ambitious Bitcoin reserve strategy following a high-profile meeting with the country’s financial leaders in Islamabad. The visit signals deepening cooperation between Pakistan and the global Bitcoin community as the nation accelerates its entry into digital assets.
Strategic Bitcoin Talks in Islamabad
Saylor met with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and State Minister on Blockchain and Crypto Bilal Bin Saqib on Sunday, where they discussed Pakistan’s emerging crypto framework and its newly announced plan to integrate Bitcoin into national reserves.
According to a video shared by the Finance Ministry, Saylor underscored Bitcoin’s role in fostering economic resilience and attracting foreign capital. “When the world sees a nation taking a leadership role in Bitcoin,” Saylor said, “they get behind the leader and they send their money to you.” He praised Pakistan’s talent and energy, adding, “I look forward to working with you,” signaling his readiness to serve in an advisory capacity.
Pakistan’s Push for a Bitcoin-Powered Economy
Bilal Bin Saqib called the meeting a “milestone” in Pakistan’s journey to establish a Web3-ready and Bitcoin-forward policy framework. Drawing parallels to Saylor’s transformation of Strategy from a software firm into the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder, Saqib believes Pakistan can adopt a similar national strategy.
This discussion follows Pakistan’s recent confirmation of plans to create a sovereign Bitcoin reserve, a policy first revealed by Saqib at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas. There, he announced that the government had begun setting up a state-owned Bitcoin wallet, with a long-term holding strategy and no intention to sell its BTC assets.
Monetizing Energy and Attracting Capital
Pakistan is also launching a bold infrastructure initiative, allocating 2,000 megawatts of surplus electricity to power Bitcoin mining operations and AI data centers. The goal: monetize stranded energy assets, attract foreign direct investment, and modernize its power and tech sectors. Officials have framed the program as a national strategic transformation.
To support these efforts, Pakistan has already established the Pakistan Digital Assets Authority and created the Pakistan Crypto Council, led by Saqib. In June, the council submitted a draft regulatory framework, which the Finance Ministry has agreed to fast-track.
Global Advisors and Crypto Diplomacy
Michael Saylor is not the only high-profile figure Pakistan has turned to. Earlier this year, Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) joined as a strategic adviser, helping the country shape its blockchain infrastructure and regulatory policies.
With plans to hold Bitcoin, build mining infrastructure, and craft a forward-thinking regulatory regime, Pakistan is quickly positioning itself as a rising force in the global crypto economy. Michael Saylor’s involvement could provide not only strategic insight but also international credibility. As the world watches, Pakistan’s bold Bitcoin experiment may mark the beginning of a new era in sovereign digital finance.
