Aave is moving deeper into tokenized real-world assets with a new Base-based equities market that could allow eligible users to borrow USDC against Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks.
The proposed Aave V4 Equities Hub includes seven tokens linked to major U.S. technology companies, including Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla.
Under the planned structure, users would be able to deposit these tokenized stocks as collateral and borrow USDC without selling their equity exposure.
The announcement has also put AAVE’s price back in focus, with the token trading near $147 and approaching an important resistance level around $155.
Aave V4 brings tokenized stocks into DeFi lending
Aave announced the Equities Hub on September 25, outlining a dedicated lending market on Base for Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks.
The seven supported assets are tied to:
- Apple
- Amazon
- Alphabet
- Meta
- Microsoft
- Nvidia
- Tesla
Rather than allowing users to borrow these stock tokens directly, Aave plans to use them strictly as collateral.
USDC will be the only asset available for borrowing in the market.
This means an eligible investor could potentially deposit a token representing Apple or Nvidia shares and borrow USDC against that position while maintaining exposure to the stock.
Aave’s published Base deployment proposal includes the same seven assets, although the proposal still outlines governance approvals that must take place before full deployment.
Aave sets $21 million initial borrowing cap
The Equities Hub will operate with carefully defined limits designed to control risk during its early stages.
According to Aave’s governance materials, the main lending market will have a USDC supply cap of $32 million.
The initial USDC borrowing cap is set at $21 million.
Risk provider LlamaRisk has also proposed a combined collateral cap of approximately $29 million across the seven tokenized stocks.
These figures represent maximum allowed market exposure rather than the amount of capital already deposited or borrowed.
Aave is therefore starting with relatively controlled limits while the market develops.
Each tokenized stock has different borrowing limits
Not every stock token will offer the same borrowing capacity.
Aave assigns different collateral factors depending on the underlying asset and its perceived risk.
Microsoft has the highest published factor at 79%, followed by Apple at 78%.
Alphabet is set at 76%, Amazon at 73%, Nvidia at 70%, while Meta and Tesla have lower factors of 65%.
This means users depositing different stock tokens could receive different borrowing power even if the dollar value of their collateral is the same.
For example, a Microsoft-backed position could support a larger USDC loan relative to its value than a Tesla-backed position.
Equities Hub keeps stock collateral risks separate
Aave V4’s architecture allows the tokenized stock market to operate through a dedicated Equities Hub.
The hub will share a USDC reserve while keeping the risks associated with equity-backed lending separate from Aave’s other Base markets.
USDC lenders will supply liquidity to the hub and earn interest from borrowers using the tokenized stocks as collateral.
Aave is also planning a supply-only route designed for USDC vaults and aggregators.
Aave Labs founder and CEO Stani Kulechov said the development expands the role of tokenized equities beyond simply holding or trading them.
The broader idea is to turn tokenized stocks into productive collateral that can be used inside decentralized finance.
Chainlink will provide pricing data
Accurate pricing is essential when stocks are being used as collateral, particularly because blockchain markets operate continuously while traditional stock exchanges do not.
Chainlink will provide the price feeds used by Aave to value the seven equity tokens.
According to LlamaRisk, the initial feeds operate from Sunday evening through Friday evening Eastern time.
During weekends and stock market holidays, the feeds retain their last published values.
This creates an important risk consideration.
Aave loans can remain active around the clock, while the underlying U.S. stocks only trade during regular market sessions.
If significant news appears when traditional markets are closed, the underlying stock could reopen sharply higher or lower.
The price feed may then reflect that move in a single adjustment when publication resumes.
LlamaRisk said this possibility influenced its recommendations for collateral factors and liquidation settings.
Continuous stock price feeds could arrive later
Chainlink is expected to introduce continuous pricing feeds for the tokenized assets at a later stage.
Once those feeds become available, LlamaRisk plans to reassess Aave’s market parameters.
Continuous pricing could reduce some of the risks associated with periods when U.S. stock markets are closed.
For now, however, Aave’s proposed market will operate around the existing price-feed schedule.
Coinbase tokenized stocks expand on Base
Coinbase began introducing its tokenized stock products on Base before Aave announced the Equities Hub.
The exchange initially launched tokens linked to Apple, Alphabet, Meta, and Nvidia in August.
Additional assets introduced in September expanded the broader lineup to 10 tokenized stocks.
Seven of those assets have been selected for Aave’s proposed lending market.
Coinbase describes the products as beneficial interests backed by actual underlying shares rather than synthetic tokens designed only to track market prices.
That structure gives the products a closer connection to the underlying equities, although their availability remains restricted.
U.S. investors are currently excluded
Despite being tied to major U.S. companies, Coinbase’s tokenized stocks are not currently available to U.S. investors.
The products are issued through a Coinbase entity based in Abu Dhabi, while Alpaca Securities serves as broker and custodian for the underlying shares.
The tokens are offered only to eligible users outside the United States and are not registered under the U.S. Securities Act.
The same restriction applies to their use within Aave’s planned Equities Hub.
Eligible non-U.S. users could deposit the stock tokens and borrow USDC, while USDC suppliers could earn lending yield.
The Aave integration does not change Coinbase’s geographic restrictions.
Tokenized stocks are gaining regulatory attention
Tokenized equities are also receiving increasing attention from U.S. regulators.
The Securities and Exchange Commission has opened a conditional five-year framework that could allow certain tokenized U.S. stocks to trade through qualifying permissioned venues.
Companies such as Coinbase could potentially seek access under that framework, although existing offshore products would still need to satisfy the relevant U.S. regulatory conditions.
Aave’s current Base proposal should therefore be viewed separately from any future U.S. authorization.
The Equities Hub concerns lending against Coinbase’s existing tokenized stocks rather than making those products available to U.S. investors.
Aave continues expansion into real-world assets
The Base Equities Hub is not Aave’s only effort involving tokenized assets.
Earlier in September, Aave outlined plans for an Avalanche-based credit market where institutions could borrow Tether’s USA₮ against tokenized real-world assets.
The Base market takes a different approach.
Instead of focusing primarily on institutional tokenized assets, it uses seven Coinbase-issued equity tokens as collateral and USDC as the sole borrowing asset.
Together, the projects show how Aave is experimenting with ways to bring traditional financial assets into decentralized lending markets.
AAVE price approaches $155 resistance
The AAVE token was trading around $147.41 after reaching an intraday high of approximately $150.14.
The token remained above its Supertrend indicator near $117.29, suggesting that the broader upward structure was still intact.
The Aroon Up indicator stood at 85.71%, compared with an Aroon Down reading of 35.71%, indicating stronger recent upside momentum.
The next important resistance level sits around $155.43.
A sustained move above that level could strengthen the current bullish structure.
If AAVE pulls back, the nearest technical support is around $134.56.
A lower support area sits near $118.18, close to the Supertrend level.
Could the tokenized stock launch support AAVE?
The Equities Hub gives Aave another potential source of lending activity as tokenized real-world assets become increasingly integrated with DeFi.
However, the project’s impact on AAVE’s price will depend on more than the announcement itself.
Market adoption, borrowing demand, USDC liquidity, broader crypto conditions, governance approval, and overall investor sentiment could all influence the token’s performance.
For now, traders are watching the $155.43 resistance level while the market evaluates whether Aave’s expansion into tokenized equities can generate meaningful new activity on the protocol.
