Solana is once again approaching the $140 resistance level, supported by rising trading activity and improving technical indicators that suggest a bigger move may be forming. On Dec. 10, SOL traded around $138, gaining 5% in 24 hours. Although the token remains 17% lower over the past month, its recent price behavior hints at renewed market strength.
Daily trading volume climbed to $6.97 billion, a 34% increase that reflects growing interest from both spot traders and futures markets. CoinGlass data shows Solana derivatives volume rising 23% to $18 billion, while open interest ticked up to $7.25 billion a sign that traders are quietly building positions instead of stepping aside.
Periods where open interest rises while price moves sideways often indicate that the market is preparing for a shift.
Liquidity shows signs of a ‘full reset’
Glassnode reported that Solana’s Realized Profit-to-Loss Ratio (30-day SMA) has remained below 1 since mid-November, meaning traders have been closing more losing positions than winning ones. This trend is typical during deep-cycle reset phases, when liquidity contracts before a new market cycle begins.
Analysts at Altcoin Vector believe Solana is currently undergoing a “full liquidity reset,” similar to past bottoming periods. During these phases, forced selling slows down, weaker traders exit, and the market begins to stabilize. Historically, when liquidity rebounds from these conditions, prices tend to move quickly, creating multi-week rallies.
Their forecast points to early January for a potential shift, though improving liquidity trends could accelerate that timeline.
Adding momentum to the outlook is Solana Breakpoint 2025, running from Dec. 11–13. Major announcements around real-world asset integrations, new partnerships, and fresh on-chain revenue models could help attract institutional attention and support a price recovery.
Technical outlook: Momentum improving
On the charts, SOL is trading just above the lower Bollinger Band near $135, gradually moving toward the middle band around $145. The RSI at 48 shows neutral momentum but has been trending upward after last week’s decline.
Other signals are starting to turn bullish as well. The MACD has just flipped positive, hinting at early momentum for a rebound. Short-term moving averages the 10-day and 20-day now sit just below the current price, offering near-term support.
To break out of its broader downtrend, Solana needs to clear longer-term resistance levels. A strong daily close above $145 could open a path toward $160. However, if the price faces rejection, it may revisit support around $135.
Overall, Solana appears to be in the middle of a reset phase a pattern often seen before a fresh market cycle begins.
