Franklin Templeton has officially launched its XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) the Franklin XRP Trust on NYSE Arca, expanding regulated access to the XRP token for U.S. investors. The move marks another major development in the institutional adoption of XRP following Ripple’s settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) earlier this year.
With this launch, Franklin Templeton joins established issuers including Bitwise, Grayscale, and Canary Capital, all of which now offer XRP investment products targeted at institutional and professional investors.
Franklin Templeton Expands Its Crypto ETF Suite
The Franklin XRP Trust adds to the firm’s growing lineup of digital-asset ETFs. The asset manager now offers four crypto funds, covering:
- Bitcoin
- Ethereum
- XRP
- A diversified digital-assets ETF
David Mann, Franklin Templeton’s Head of ETF Product and Capital Markets, emphasized XRP’s utility, stating that the token plays a “foundational role in global settlement infrastructure.”
Launch Follows Ripple’s 2025 SEC Settlement
Franklin Templeton’s XRP ETF debut comes just months after Ripple Labs resolved its multi-year legal battle with the SEC.
Key case background:
- The SEC sued Ripple in December 2020, claiming XRP was sold as an unregistered security since 2013.
- The lawsuit triggered widespread exchange delistings and steep declines in XRP’s market value.
- In August 2025, Ripple settled the case paying a monetary penalty but not admitting wrongdoing.
The settlement cleared the regulatory overhang that had restricted U.S. investor access for nearly five years.
Institutional-Ready XRP Exposure
Roger Bayston, Franklin Templeton’s Head of Digital Assets, said the ETF provides:
- Regulated custody
- Daily transparency
- High liquidity
- No operational burden of holding XRP directly
This makes the product particularly appealing to institutional investors who require compliance, disclosure, and traditional broker-dealer access.
The launch also coincided with Grayscale’s own XRP ETF listing, while Bitwise saw strong inflows after its XRP ETF rollout last week.
A Major Step for XRP’s Institutional Adoption
With multiple regulated investment vehicles now live, analysts expect institutional exposure to XRP to accelerate — especially as major asset managers roll out products with SEC oversight and transparent reserve reporting.
Franklin Templeton says the XRP Trust is available through standard brokerage accounts, giving investors an accessible, compliant way to gain exposure to the token’s price movements.
