As the crypto market rides a wave of bullish momentum, Nansen CEO Alex Svanevik believes the real potential of blockchain is still untapped. Speaking at the ReDeFine Tomorrow 2025 conference hosted by SCB10X on Friday, July 18, Svanevik emphasized that while regulatory shifts are helping fuel the current rally, they’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible.
“Crypto moves fast regulators and traditional finance don’t,” Svanevik said. “There’s a massive lag between innovation in blockchain and the regulatory frameworks that support it. Understanding that lag can help us identify long-term opportunities others are missing.”
Indeed, since the 2024 U.S. elections, Bitcoin has rocketed from $70,000 to a record high of $123,091. But for Svanevik, this bull market isn’t just about price action it’s a signal that regulation is starting to play catch-up. And with that catch-up comes a path toward unlocking the next phase of growth.
According to Svanevik, the most exciting frontier isn’t memecoins or even new Layer 1 blockchains it’s the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs), like stocks, equity, and private credit.
“We’re bullish on what’s already happening, but the true 10x or even 100x moment for blockchain will come when equity and real assets are brought fully on-chain. That’s where we go beyond speculation and into real financial infrastructure,” he said.
RWAs have already started gaining traction. A recent RedStone report estimates the RWA market has grown to $24 billion, fueled in large part by private credit. As more regulatory clarity emerges, Svanevik expects that number to balloon especially if tokenized stocks become a reality.
The message from Nansen’s CEO is clear: regulation may be catching up, but for those thinking long-term, the biggest wins in crypto still lie ahead.
