XRP has climbed back above the $3 mark, a critical psychological level, as traders position themselves ahead of potential exchange-traded fund (ETF) approvals that could reshape demand for the cryptocurrency.
XRP Price and Market Standing
On September 10, XRP was up 1.1%, trading at around $3 with a robust $4.35 billion in daily trading volume. This recovery lifts its market cap to about $178.26 billion, keeping XRP firmly in third place among all crypto assets.
The move above $3 highlights growing optimism in the market despite ongoing volatility. For many traders, the strongest potential catalyst remains ETF demand.
Institutional Demand Is Surging
Supporting this outlook is a surge in derivatives activity. CME Group’s XRP futures contracts reached $1 billion in open interest within just three months faster than any other crypto asset.
This kind of momentum is often seen as a leading indicator of ETF appetite, signaling that institutional players are taking XRP seriously.
The ETF Timeline
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is currently reviewing 15 XRP ETF applications. Early decisions on proposals from CoinShares, 21Shares, Canary Capital, and Grayscale are scheduled for October 19, unless the SEC issues another delay.
The agency has already extended deadlines multiple times, including pushing the decision on the Franklin Templeton XRP ETF to November 14.
Still, optimism remains strong. Prediction platform Polymarket currently places the odds of an XRP ETF approval at 92% by the end of 2025.
Why It Matters
If approval comes through, analysts say XRP could see significant upside, potentially moving toward $4–$5 as liquidity floods into the asset. For now, reclaiming $3 shows that investor confidence is building, with ETFs shaping up as the biggest driver of momentum in the months ahead.
