BitMine Immersion Technologies has continued expanding its Ethereum treasury, adding another 9,926 ETH during the week ending Aug. 16.
The latest purchase pushed the company’s reported Ethereum holdings to 5,815,164 ETH, bringing BitMine closer to its ambitious goal of owning 5% of Ethereum’s total supply.
The announcement also came alongside positive movement in BitMine’s stock. BMNR shares gained 3.68% during Monday’s trading session, while the company continued staking most of its Ethereum holdings and buying back its own shares.
Together, these developments show that BitMine is continuing to build its strategy around Ethereum accumulation, staking income and shareholder capital management.
BitMine Adds Another 9,926 ETH to Its Treasury
BitMine reported purchasing 9,926 ETH during the latest week, increasing its total Ethereum holdings to 5,815,164 tokens.
Using an Ethereum price of approximately $1,893, the company valued those holdings at around $11 billion.
That is an unusually large Ethereum position for a publicly traded company.
According to BitMine, its current holdings represent approximately 4.8% of Ethereum’s estimated 120.7 million token supply.
The latest acquisition was smaller than some of BitMine’s previous weekly purchases, but it still moves the company another step toward its long-term accumulation target.
BMNR Stock Climbs Following the Update
BitMine’s stock also moved higher.
BMNR closed at $18.73 on Aug. 17, representing a gain of approximately 3.68% during the regular New York Stock Exchange session.
Shares then gained another 0.37% in after-hours trading to around $18.80.
BMNR opened the session at approximately $18.20 and traded between $18.11 and $19.00.
Trading activity remained strong, with roughly 30.95 million shares changing hands compared with an average volume of about 32.51 million.
The gains suggest investors responded positively to the latest treasury and capital-management update, although BMNR remains a highly volatile stock.
BMNR Remains Far Below Its 52-Week High
Despite Monday’s gains, BitMine shares remain well below their 52-week peak.
BMNR’s 52-week high stands at approximately $65.60, while its 52-week low is around $12.80.
That wide range highlights how dramatically investor sentiment around the company has changed as BitMine expanded its Ethereum-focused strategy.
At Monday’s closing price, Google Finance placed BitMine’s market capitalization at approximately $11.3 billion, based on roughly 603.23 million outstanding shares.
Interestingly, that figure is close to the company’s reported $11.4 billion portfolio of crypto assets, cash, securities and other investments.
BitMine Is Closing In on Its 5% Ethereum Target
BitMine describes its goal of accumulating 5% of Ethereum’s total supply as the “Alchemy of 5%.”
Using the company’s estimate of 120.7 million ETH in circulation, a 5% stake would equal approximately 6.035 million ETH.
With 5,815,164 ETH currently reported, BitMine is roughly 219,836 ETH short of that target.
That means it has already accumulated approximately 96.4% of the Ethereum required under its current calculation.
However, Ethereum’s total supply can change, meaning the exact number needed to reach 5% may also shift.
BitMine has not provided a specific deadline for completing the target.
Ethereum Purchases Have Slowed From Earlier Levels
BitMine has been reporting regular Ethereum acquisitions since adopting its treasury strategy in June 2025.
Some of its earlier purchases were substantially larger than the latest 9,926 ETH addition.
During one week in May, for example, the company added more than 100,000 ETH.
That makes the latest purchase relatively modest by BitMine’s recent standards.
Still, the company continues to accumulate ETH as it approaches its 5% goal.
BitMine did not disclose the average price paid for the latest tokens, making it difficult to calculate the exact cost of the acquisition.
BitMine Has Staked More Than 5 Million ETH
Ethereum accumulation is only one part of BitMine’s strategy.
The company is also putting most of its holdings to work through staking.
As of Aug. 16, BitMine reported 5,067,309 ETH staked, representing approximately 87.1% of its total Ethereum treasury.
At the company’s reference ETH price, those staked tokens were worth roughly $9.59 billion.
That leaves approximately 747,855 ETH outside staking based on the disclosed figures.
Some of BitMine’s Ethereum is staked through MAVAN, short for the Made in America Validator Network, while additional holdings are reportedly deployed through other staking partners.
Staking Could Generate Significant Revenue
BitMine estimates that its current staking position could produce approximately $250 million in annualized revenue.
The calculation is based on a recent seven-day staking yield of around 2.61%.
However, that figure should not be treated as guaranteed annual revenue.
Ethereum staking yields constantly change depending on factors such as validator participation, network activity, execution rewards and overall staking conditions.
If BitMine eventually staked its entire ETH treasury at the same estimated yield and Ethereum price, the company calculated that annualized staking revenue could rise to around $287 million.
The actual amount could be significantly higher or lower depending on ETH prices and staking yields.
Why Staking Matters to BitMine’s Strategy
Holding Ethereum gives BitMine exposure to changes in ETH’s market price.
Staking potentially adds another source of return.
Instead of keeping its entire Ethereum position idle, BitMine can use a large portion of its holdings to participate in Ethereum’s Proof-of-Stake network and receive validator rewards.
This creates a treasury model that differs from simply buying and holding crypto.
However, staking also introduces additional variables.
Returns fluctuate, and operational performance, validator conditions and Ethereum network changes can all influence results.
The dollar value of staking revenue is also directly affected by Ethereum’s price.
BitMine Also Repurchased 1.7 Million Shares
Alongside its Ethereum purchases, BitMine has continued buying back its own stock.
The company repurchased approximately 1.7 million common shares during the latest week.
That pushed total repurchases since July 1 to more than 20.8 million shares.
Earlier this year, BitMine’s board substantially increased its share-repurchase authorization.
The program was expanded from $1 million to as much as $4 billion in April.
A repurchase authorization does not mean the company is required to spend the full amount. It simply establishes the maximum amount management is currently permitted to use under the program.
How Much Could the Latest Buyback Be Worth?
BitMine did not disclose the average purchase price of the 1.7 million shares acquired during the week.
At Monday’s closing price of $18.73, however, those shares would have a market value of approximately $31.8 million.
That is only an estimate based on the closing share price and does not represent BitMine’s actual spending.
Share repurchases can potentially benefit existing shareholders by reducing the number of shares outstanding.
However, that effect depends on what the company ultimately does with the purchased stock.
Future share issuance, preferred-stock conversions or other equity transactions could also offset part of the reduction.
BitMine Reports an $11.4 Billion Portfolio
BitMine reported that its combined cryptocurrency holdings, cash, marketable securities and other investments were worth approximately $11.4 billion as of Aug. 16.
Ethereum makes up the overwhelming majority of that amount.
However, the company also reported holding 210 Bitcoin, along with approximately $78 million in cash and marketable securities.
BitMine has also made investments outside its primary crypto treasury.
The portfolio includes a reported $180 million position in Beast Industries and a $73 million stake in Nasdaq-listed Eightco Holdings.
BitMine refers to these investments as its “moonshots.”
Ethereum Price Remains Critical to BitMine’s Valuation
BitMine’s large ETH position means its financial picture is heavily influenced by Ethereum’s market price.
At the reference price of $1,893, the company’s ETH holdings are valued at roughly $11 billion.
But cryptocurrency prices can move quickly.
A significant rise in Ethereum could increase the market value of BitMine’s treasury substantially.
A sharp ETH decline would have the opposite effect.
This means BMNR investors are not only evaluating BitMine as a traditional operating company. They are also gaining indirect exposure to one of the world’s largest corporate Ethereum holdings.
That relationship could contribute to continued volatility in BMNR shares.
What Comes Next for BitMine?
Investors will now be watching whether BitMine continues buying Ethereum as it approaches its 5% supply target.
At the current reported level, the company needs roughly another 219,836 ETH to reach its goal, assuming Ethereum’s estimated supply remains unchanged.
Future weekly updates could reveal whether BitMine accelerates purchases again or approaches the target more gradually.
Staking will also remain important.
With more than 5 million ETH already staked, changes in Ethereum staking yields could have a meaningful impact on the company’s projected revenue.
Investors will also be watching upcoming SEC disclosures for additional information about BitMine’s stock repurchases, asset valuations and capital strategy.
For now, BitMine continues to pursue three major objectives at the same time: accumulating Ethereum, generating staking rewards and repurchasing BMNR shares.
The latest 9,926 ETH addition may be smaller than some previous purchases, but it brings the company another step closer to controlling 5% of Ethereum’s estimated supply.
