Japanese Bitcoin treasury giant Metaplanet Inc. has posted another strong quarter, reporting solid profits and major balance sheet expansion despite the ongoing volatility in the crypto market.
According to its newly published Q3 financial disclosure, Metaplanet recorded a net profit of 12.7 billion yen, equal to roughly $82 million. The company also reported 2.401 billion yen ($15.5 million) in revenue from sales a 94% increase compared to the previous quarter. Operating profit grew as well, rising 64% to 1.339 billion yen (about $8.7 million).
One of the biggest highlights was the dramatic jump in the company’s net assets. Metaplanet’s net assets surged 165%, climbing from 201 billion yen to 532.9 billion yen. This rapid expansion reflects the company’s increasing operational efficiency and the rising value of its Bitcoin treasury reserves.
Metaplanet now holds over 30,823 BTC, placing it among the world’s largest non-U.S. public companies with significant Bitcoin exposure. The strong earnings come at a time when Bitcoin recently slipped toward the $102,000 zone, demonstrating the firm’s ability to remain profitable even in choppy market conditions.
Metaplanet Responds to Possible Regulatory Tightening
Alongside its financial report, Metaplanet addressed recent discussions within the Japan Exchange Group (JPX) about potential regulatory tightening for companies holding Bitcoin or other crypto assets on their balance sheets.
The proposed rules aim to prevent backdoor listings and enforce stronger governance standards among Bitcoin treasury companies. Metaplanet said it welcomes the conversation, noting that tighter oversight can help improve market integrity and investor protection.
The company emphasized that transparency remains a core pillar of its strategy, and it is prepared to work with regulators to ensure responsible corporate governance as the Bitcoin treasury model gains global momentum.
