Phantom, the popular crypto wallet with more than 15 million users, is stepping beyond just being “a place to hold tokens.” The company has just introduced CASH, a U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin built on Solana, that’s designed to bring crypto into everyday payments.
Turning Crypto Into Real-World Money
CASH is backed 1:1 by the U.S. dollar, ensuring stability while giving users the freedom to spend their crypto seamlessly. What makes this launch big is Phantom Cash, a new payments app where CASH will serve as the default stablecoin.
Through Phantom Cash, users can link their balances directly to Apple Pay, Google Pay, and even Visa turning crypto into a swipe, tap, or click at checkout. In other words, the crypto you’ve been holding can now pay for coffee, groceries, or your next online order without the friction of endless conversions.
“Your crypto should do more than sit in a wallet. Phantom Cash turns it into everyday spending power,” the company explained.
The Power Behind It: Stripe’s Bridge
This move is powered by Stripe’s Bridge division, which just rolled out Open Issuance a platform that lets businesses create and launch their own branded stablecoins. Phantom is one of the first to adopt it, alongside names like MetaMask, Hyperliquid, Dakota, and Takenos.
With Stripe in the mix, Phantom users will also get instant bank funding, peer-to-peer transfers, and virtual or physical debit cards. Stripe’s one-time verification process will enable easy deposits into virtual accounts, making the transition between traditional money and crypto smoother than ever.
More Than a Wallet
For years, Phantom has been known as one of Solana’s go-to wallets for trading, swapping, and holding tokens. With CASH, Phantom is moving into something bigger: real-world utility.
The company sees this as a natural step, especially as stablecoins continue to dominate crypto adoption.
