Aster (ASTER) has seen a mild correction over the past two days, dropping from last week’s high of $2.27 to around $2.00. Despite the pullback, the perpetual futures exchange continues to post record-breaking on-chain activity and trading volumes, firmly positioning itself ahead of key rival Hyperliquid.
Aster Outpaces Hyperliquid in Weekly Volume
Backed by Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ), Aster has quickly become one of the dominant players in the decentralized derivatives market. According to data from DeFiLlama, the platform processed over $571 billion in trading volume last week more than double the $270 billion recorded the previous week.
In comparison, Hyperliquid’s weekly volume fell sharply to $49 billion, down from $80 billion a week earlier. The performance gap underscores Aster’s growing dominance, driven by increasing user participation and liquidity.
Alongside this, Aster’s fee generation reached an all-time high of $109 million, up from $93 million the week prior. Over the past 30 days, the network has handled an astonishing $758 billion in cumulative volume, highlighting its rapid adoption among derivatives traders.
Meanwhile, total value locked (TVL) on the platform surged to $2.3 billion, solidifying Aster’s position among the top decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.
Short-Term Dip, Long-Term Strength
Despite the platform’s stellar fundamentals, Aster’s token price has eased in recent sessions, slipping from $2.27 to $2.00. Analysts attribute the move to short-term profit-taking rather than a loss of momentum.
The two-hour price chart shows that Aster found a strong base near $1.50 on Oct. 1, before rallying sharply to $2.27 on Oct. 4. The token recently reclaimed the $1.97 resistance level, which had capped gains since September 29, and now sits above the 50-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA) — a bullish technical signal.
If current market sentiment holds, Aster could resume its uptrend and retest the $2.27 zone, with a potential breakout toward its all-time high of $2.42. Conversely, if selling pressure persists, support may emerge around $1.90–$1.85.
Aster’s Rapid Rise in DeFi
The project’s meteoric growth has attracted attention across the crypto space — including a nod from CZ himself, who praised Aster’s progress as “well done.” With record activity, high liquidity, and fast-growing community participation, Aster is increasingly viewed as a legitimate challenger to established DeFi derivatives platforms.
While short-term volatility may continue, the underlying fundamentals suggest that Aster’s upward trajectory is far from over.
