Hyperliquid’s native token, HYPE, has surged to a fresh all-time high, riding a wave of record trading activity and growing dominance in both spot and derivatives markets.
HYPE Rockets Past $50
On August 27, during Asian morning hours, HYPE hit a record $50.99, extending a week-long rally that’s lifted the token 22% in seven days and 14% in the last 24 hours.
Data from Coinglass shows that Hyperliquid’s derivatives trading volume jumped 14.57% in the past day to $3.05 billion, while open interest climbed nearly 17% to $2.33 billion. At the same time, more than $1.76 million in short positions were liquidated, showing how bearish traders were caught off guard by the strong breakout.
Hyperliquid’s Rising Market Share
The momentum is also being fueled by record-breaking activity on the exchange itself. On August 26, Hyperliquid’s spot trading volumes hit $3.4 billion in a single day, with Bitcoin and Ethereum markets leading the charge.
With $1.5 billion in daily BTC spot trading alone, Hyperliquid has now become the second-largest venue globally for Bitcoin spot trading across both centralized and decentralized platforms.
Supporting this growth, DefiLlama data shows:
- August’s DEX volumes have already topped $18 billion, beating July’s $11 billion.
- Total value locked (TVL) has surged to $721 million, another all-time high.
- Annualized revenue is running at $1.26 billion, underscoring the protocol’s rapidly expanding footprint.
Technical Outlook: More Room to Run
From a technical perspective, HYPE’s breakout looks strong:
- The token broke resistance at $49 with volume support.
- The RSI sits at 61, signaling momentum is building but not yet overheated.
- Bollinger Bands are widening, pointing to higher volatility ahead.
- MACD has crossed bullish, while the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) at 195 confirms strong upward pressure.
If momentum holds, the next resistance sits near $55. On the downside, profit-taking could see a pullback toward $45 support, which would still keep the broader uptrend intact.
