Bitcoin has paused its recent recovery after coming within touching distance of the $67,000 level. The world’s largest cryptocurrency climbed as high as $66,886 before pulling back to around $65,970, as investors became more cautious ahead of major U.S. technology earnings and rising geopolitical tensions that pushed oil prices sharply higher.
Despite the short-term weakness, institutional demand remains healthy, leaving traders watching closely to see whether Bitcoin can build enough momentum to finally break above a key technical resistance.
Bitcoin pauses as markets await Big Tech earnings
Bitcoin’s latest pullback came as investors adopted a more defensive stance ahead of earnings reports from Alphabet and Tesla.
Technology stocks have played a major role in driving market sentiment this year, particularly companies investing heavily in artificial intelligence. Investors are closely monitoring Alphabet’s results for signs that its enormous AI spending is beginning to generate meaningful returns.
Analysts expect Alphabet’s annual capital expenditure to reach between $180 billion and $190 billion, making its earnings report one of the most closely watched events of the quarter.
Any disappointment from major technology companies could weigh on the Nasdaq and reduce demand for risk assets like Bitcoin.
Rising oil prices add another layer of uncertainty
The macroeconomic backdrop has also become less favorable for cryptocurrencies.
Oil prices surged after escalating tensions between the United States and Iran raised concerns about global energy supplies.
WTI crude climbed above $87, while Brent crude moved past $94 per barrel as geopolitical risks increased across the Middle East.
Higher oil prices can fuel inflation, making it more difficult for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates. Elevated inflation expectations typically pressure high-risk assets, including cryptocurrencies, by strengthening Treasury yields and reducing investor appetite for speculative investments.
Bitcoin ETFs continue attracting institutional money
While macro uncertainty has slowed buying momentum, institutional investors continue adding exposure to Bitcoin.
According to Farside Investors, U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $203.2 million in net inflows during the latest trading session.
BlackRock’s IBIT led the market with approximately $163.9 million in new investments, while Fidelity’s FBTC attracted another $23.1 million.
Although inflows were slightly lower than the previous session, the continued demand suggests institutional investors remain optimistic about Bitcoin’s longer-term outlook.
Bitcoin needs to reclaim $67,000
From a technical perspective, Bitcoin remains at an important crossroads.
The recent recovery from July’s low near $58,000 has carried BTC back toward the upper boundary of its current trading range around $66,950.
However, buyers have so far failed to secure a decisive breakout.
Crypto analyst Daan Crypto Trades believes that closing above the June highs would mark Bitcoin’s first significant bullish market structure break since May, potentially opening the door for another leg higher.
For now, $66,950–$67,000 remains the most important resistance zone.
Technical indicators remain constructive
Despite the recent rejection, Bitcoin’s broader technical picture remains encouraging.
BTC continues trading above both its 20-day and 50-day Simple Moving Averages, which are now acting as dynamic support levels around $64,000 and $63,100.
The Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) indicator remains positive, suggesting capital continues flowing into the market despite the short-term pullback.
Meanwhile, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has eased from recent highs but remains comfortably above neutral territory, indicating bullish momentum has slowed rather than reversed.
The MACD also remains positive, although the shrinking histogram suggests buying pressure has become less aggressive after testing resistance.
Liquidation levels could drive the next move
According to CoinGlass liquidation data, a significant concentration of leveraged short positions sits around $67,300, with another major liquidity cluster near $68,000.
If Bitcoin successfully breaks above $66,950, forced liquidations could trigger a rapid move toward those higher price levels.
On the downside, leveraged long positions are concentrated near $65,500, $64,700, and $64,300, making these important support zones if selling pressure increases.
Bullish outlook depends on holding support
Bitcoin’s recovery remains intact as long as buyers defend the current support structure.
The first major support lies around $65,000, followed by $64,992, which aligns with an important Fibonacci retracement level.
If BTC falls below that level, the next downside targets emerge near $63,455 and $62,375.
Losing the broader support zone around $63,100 would weaken the current bullish setup and increase the risk of a deeper correction.
Can Bitcoin break $67K?
Bitcoin continues to show resilience despite macroeconomic uncertainty, supported by steady ETF inflows and improving technical indicators.
However, breaking $67,000 will likely require stronger market confidence following corporate earnings and easing concerns surrounding inflation and energy prices.
If buyers successfully push above $66,950, short liquidations could accelerate the rally toward $68,000, while continued strength could eventually open the path toward $70,000 and beyond.
Until then, traders are likely to remain cautious as they monitor corporate earnings, Federal Reserve expectations, and geopolitical developments that continue to influence broader financial markets.
