Ethereum (ETH) is on the move again, breaking through the $2,600 mark in a strong rally after a period of sluggish price action. The second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap has seen a surge in trading volume, fueled in part by fresh macroeconomic signals and growing investor interest.
Earlier today, ETH soared as high as $2,608.70 around 9:45 UTC, gaining roughly 6% from its previous levels. Although the price has since pulled back slightly, ETH is still up 5.54% over the past 24 hours and is trading around $2,590 at press time. Despite the small dip from its intraday high, Ethereum remains firmly anchored near the $2,600 level.
Trading Volume Soars as Market Activity Picks Up
Ethereum’s trading volume has exploded, jumping by 83.7% compared to the previous day. Daily trading activity now sits at $25.4 billion, reflecting renewed enthusiasm and higher participation in the market.
Ethereum’s market capitalization has also climbed, now standing at $313 billion—a 5.56% increase over the same 24-hour period.
Why Is Ethereum Rallying?
Several factors appear to be fueling Ethereum’s latest rally. A key catalyst came from the traditional markets, where fresh U.S. labor data revealed weaker-than-expected payroll numbers. This has reignited hopes that the Federal Reserve might cut interest rates sooner rather than later.
Lower interest rates generally reduce the cost of borrowing and often drive investors toward riskier assets like cryptocurrencies. As a result, money is flowing back into the crypto space, giving ETH and other digital assets a boost.
Even though Ethereum ETFs recently experienced $1.82 million in outflows, overall sentiment remains strong. Data from SoSoValue shows cumulative net inflows into Ethereum ETFs still sit comfortably at $4.25 billion, underscoring ongoing institutional interest.
Another factor contributing to the rally is the buzz from the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC), where Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently shared his thoughts on the future of crypto. Buterin’s remarks addressed the industry’s growth, the path forward for blockchain technology, and his critique of “fake decentralization” claims within the space helping rekindle excitement among investors and developers alike.
With renewed optimism in the air, traders and analysts are watching closely to see whether Ethereum can sustain this upward momentum and push further past the $2,600 level in the days ahead.
