The White House is gearing up to release its first official report on cryptocurrency policy after months of behind-the-scenes work.
According to a Monday announcement from Crypto in America, the much-anticipated report, commissioned by a January executive directive from President Trump, is slated for release by July 22. The document is expected to lay out a comprehensive strategy for regulating digital assets in the U.S., offering both legislative proposals and regulatory guidance.
Leading the charge on the report is a working group co-chaired by the U.S. “crypto czar” David Sacks and Congressman Bo Hines. The team also includes senior officials from key agencies like the Treasury Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and the Department of Commerce.
Sources familiar with the discussions say the group has been collaborating for months to develop a unified federal framework that aligns with President Trump’s ambition to establish the U.S. as the global hub for crypto innovation.
While the specific details of the report remain confidential, early indications suggest it could tackle several pivotal topics. One potential proposal is the creation of a strategic Bitcoin reserve, an idea President Trump floated earlier this year. The group is also said to be exploring ways to ensure crypto businesses have fair access to banking services, especially regarding the Federal Reserve’s role in payment systems.
Acting CFTC Chair Caroline Pham has described the group’s discussions as “productive and fruitful,” suggesting that the upcoming report could serve as a roadmap for the administration’s broader crypto agenda.
The report’s expected release on July 22 coincides with a busy legislative calendar in Washington. Congress is preparing to vote on several significant crypto-related bills, including the GENIUS Stablecoin Act and measures addressing market structure and central bank digital currencies.
Meanwhile, the Senate Banking Committee is slated to hold a hearing later this week focused on crypto regulation. The session will feature testimony from prominent industry figures such as Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Blockchain Association CEO Summer Mersinger, Chainalysis CEO Jonathan Levin, and Paradigm General Partner Dan Robinson.
