Chainlink is trading near the upper end of its recent range as volatility continues to compress, with traders watching closely for a decisive move following the launch of the Bitwise Chainlink ETF.
At press time, LINK was trading around $13.84, down about 1.5% on the day. Despite the short-term dip, the token remains up roughly 3.7% over the past week and more than 8% over the last month, reflecting steady accumulation rather than impulsive momentum.
Volatility tightens as leverage cools
Trading activity has softened slightly as market participants adopt a wait-and-see approach. Spot trading volume slipped to around $618 million, down 0.4% on the day.
Derivatives data shows a similar pattern. According to CoinGlass, futures trading volume declined 2.8% to $872 million, while open interest edged lower 0.4% to $668.8 million. When both metrics ease together, it typically signals traders reducing leverage and pausing new bets ahead of a potential breakout.
Bitwise LINK ETF adds institutional access
The Bitwise Chainlink ETF (CLNK) officially began trading on NYSE Arca on Jan. 14, becoming the second U.S. spot ETF offering direct exposure to LINK after Grayscale’s GLNK launch in December.
The fund is physically backed by LINK held with Coinbase Custody, with BNY Mellon overseeing cash operations. Bitwise set a 0.34% management fee, which is waived for the first three months on up to $500 million in assets to encourage early adoption.
On its first trading day, the ETF recorded $2.59 million in net inflows, $3.24 million in trading volume, and a net asset value of $5.18 million. While staking is not supported, analysts note that ETF launches often have a delayed impact, gradually improving liquidity and accessibility for institutions and advisors unable to hold tokens directly.
Broader fundamentals remain supportive
Beyond the ETF, several developments have strengthened Chainlink’s longer-term outlook. A draft version of the U.S. Digital Asset Market Clarity Act proposes classifying LINK as a network token under CFTC oversight, potentially reducing regulatory uncertainty.
Chainlink has also rolled out Confidential Compute at the protocol level, enabling private off-chain computation with on-chain settlement. The feature is designed for institutional and enterprise use cases that require data privacy without sacrificing blockchain security.
Chainlink price technical outlook
Technically, LINK is firmly in consolidation. Price has been holding within a tight $13.00 to $14.20 range, forming a base following the ETF launch.
Daily candles show smaller bodies and limited wicks, indicating neither buyers nor sellers are exerting strong pressure. Bollinger Bands are now tightly compressed, confirming a low-volatility regime that often precedes a sharp directional move.
Momentum indicators remain constructive but not stretched. The Relative Strength Index is near 58, leaving room for continuation. The Average Directional Index suggests trend strength is still developing, while the MACD remains in positive territory.
Support is clearly defined between $13.00 and $13.20, aligning with the 20- and 30-day moving averages. A sustained daily close below $13 would likely open the door to a deeper pullback toward $12.80.
On the upside, resistance sits at $14.00–$14.20, a zone that has capped price multiple times. A clean daily close above $14.20, especially on rising volume, could trigger a move toward $15.00, where the 100-day moving average comes into focus.
