World Liberty Financial (WLFI) is rolling out fresh incentives for stablecoin users while preparing for one of the year’s biggest token unlocks.
On August 25, the project announced the launch of its USD1 Points Program in partnership with Gate.io, alongside the debut of its Lockbox mechanism, which comes just days before the scheduled September 1 WLFI token unlock.
USD1 Points Program: Daily Rewards for Stablecoin Users
The new program is designed to boost adoption of USD1, WLFI’s fast-growing stablecoin. Users can now earn points by trading, holding USD1, and engaging in related activities on Gate.io.
According to Gate.io, the system runs on a daily cycle:
- Holdings and trading volume are updated at 8:00 UTC every day.
- Rewards are distributed at 12:00 UTC, giving participants frequent chances to earn.
The initiative marks another milestone for USD1, which has rapidly risen into the top tier of stablecoins by market cap since launching earlier this year. Gate.io also hinted that more user perks will be added in future updates, with the goal of positioning USD1 as more than just a transactional asset — instead making it central to trading, yield farming, and launchpad activities.
WLFI Lockbox and Upcoming Token Unlock
On the same day, WLFI also activated its Lockbox system, requiring holders to deposit tokens in advance of the upcoming September 1 unlock.
The WLFI token was one of 2024’s most high-profile offerings, after raising an eye-catching $2.26 billion. Initially limited to governance voting, 20% of presale tokens will become tradable following the unlock, a move approved by community vote back in July.
So far, over $1.5 billion worth of tokens have been locked, a sign that holders are positioning themselves carefully ahead of the big event.
Market Scrutiny and Outlook
Despite its size, WLFI hasn’t escaped criticism — from questions about large token transfers to its alleged ties to the Trump family. Still, the project has continued to attract funding deals and secure exchange listings, keeping it firmly in the spotlight.
As September 1 approaches, all eyes will be on how WLFI manages price stability and liquidity during what could be a pivotal moment for both the token and its ecosystem.
