Coinhouse has become one of the first crypto firms in France to receive full authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, commonly known as MiCA.
The Paris-based crypto platform secured Crypto Asset Service Provider accreditation from France’s financial regulator, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF). The approval allows Coinhouse to legally offer crypto services across all European Union member states through a single regulatory framework.
The milestone marks a major upgrade from the company’s earlier PSAN registration, which it obtained in 2020 under France’s national digital asset regime. With the new MiCA authorization, Coinhouse now joins a small group of firms that are fully compliant with Europe’s incoming crypto regulations before the July 1, 2026 deadline.
According to a May 21 press release from De Gaulle Fleurance, the law firm advised Coinhouse throughout the multi-year licensing process.
Coinhouse expands its crypto permissions under MiCA
Founded in 2014 under the name “La Maison du Bitcoin,” Coinhouse has gradually evolved into one of France’s most recognized crypto investment platforms.
Under its new MiCA authorization, the company can now legally provide a broad range of crypto services across the EU. These include crypto custody, buying and selling digital assets, crypto-to-fiat exchanges, crypto transfers, investment advice, and portfolio management.
Coinhouse CEO Nicolas Louvet confirmed on LinkedIn that the company received authorization for seven separate crypto services. He noted that the approval goes beyond simple brokerage services and also includes advisory and discretionary portfolio management capabilities.
The AMF’s official whitelist now lists COINHOUSE SAS as a fully authorized crypto asset service provider in France.
Anne Maréchal, a partner at De Gaulle Fleurance, described the approval as an important step for the company and said it highlights the growing importance of regulatory preparation and compliance within the European crypto industry.
Why the MiCA license matters
Coinhouse’s approval arrives as the European crypto industry approaches a major regulatory transition.
France’s AMF previously confirmed that all crypto firms operating under the older PSAN framework must obtain MiCA authorization by July 1, 2026. After that date, only fully licensed Crypto Asset Service Providers will be allowed to legally operate in France and across the wider EU market.
Companies that fail to secure approval could face serious consequences, including forced shutdowns, fines, and possible legal penalties.
Industry observers believe the new rules will significantly reshape Europe’s crypto sector by favoring companies with stronger compliance systems and regulatory resources.
By securing its license early, Coinhouse gains a competitive advantage over firms that are still preparing applications or waiting for approval.
Coinhouse eyes wider European expansion
The MiCA framework also gives Coinhouse “passporting” rights across the European Union. This means the company can expand into other EU countries without needing separate licenses in every jurisdiction.
Coinhouse already serves customers in several French-speaking European markets, including Belgium and Luxembourg. The company now plans to broaden its services further for retail, institutional, and corporate investors across Europe in the coming months.
The early approval positions Coinhouse as one of the first fully MiCA-compliant crypto gateways in Europe at a time when many smaller crypto providers are still uncertain about their long-term regulatory strategy.
As Europe moves toward stricter oversight of digital assets, firms that adapt early to MiCA could gain a stronger foothold in the region’s rapidly evolving crypto market.
