Global crypto exchange Binance has announced it will remove 23 spot trading pairs from its platform on January 9, 2026, as part of a routine market quality and liquidity review.
The move is aimed at improving trading efficiency and protecting users from thin order books and poor execution an ongoing effort Binance says it applies across all listed pairs.
Why Binance Is Removing These Trading Pairs
According to the exchange, spot trading pairs are regularly evaluated using several criteria, including:
- Liquidity depth
- Trading volume
- Overall market efficiency
- User trading experience
The 23 pairs selected for removal were found to have low liquidity or insufficient trading activity, making them less efficient for traders.
Importantly, Binance emphasized that this is not a token delisting only specific trading pairs are being removed
What Happens to the Tokens?
Even after the delisting takes effect, users will still be able to trade the affected cryptocurrencies through other supported trading pairs on Binance.
In short:
- The tokens remain listed
- Only specific low-volume pairs are removed
- Alternative pairs stay active
This approach allows Binance to clean up inactive markets without cutting off access to the underlying assets.
Trading Bots Will Be Deactivated
Binance also warned users running automated spot trading bots.
Any bots configured for the affected pairs will be automatically shut down at the delisting time. Traders are strongly advised to:
- Review active bot strategies
- Disable or reconfigure bots before the deadline
- Switch to alternative supported pairs
Failing to do so could result in unexpected losses or halted strategies.

Part of Binance’s Ongoing Platform Maintenance
Binance says these periodic reviews are a standard part of maintaining a healthy trading environment. By removing illiquid or inactive markets, the exchange aims to:
- Reduce slippage
- Improve price discovery
- Enhance overall user experience
Similar cleanups have occurred in the past, particularly during periods of lower market activity.
Final Thoughts
Binance’s decision to delist 23 spot trading pairs reflects a broader industry trend toward quality over quantity.
For traders, the key takeaway is simple: review your active pairs, update any trading bots, and switch to higher-liquidity markets. The underlying assets remain tradable but efficiency comes first.
As exchanges continue refining their platforms, liquidity management is becoming just as important as token listings themselves.
