The MOVE token is holding steady near resistance levels as traders digest Movement Labs’ big announcement: a plan to transition from a sidechain to a full-fledged Layer 1 blockchain.
Market Activity Heats Up
At press time, MOVE was trading around $0.127, up 3.2% on the day. The token is brushing up against resistance at $0.134, with support levels sitting near $0.124 and a firmer base at $0.113.
Trading has picked up dramatically. Daily volume jumped nearly 200% to $81.6 million, while derivatives volume surged 256% to $199.2 million, according to Coinglass. Open interest also climbed nearly 16% to $61.3 million, signaling that more traders are opening positions often a precursor to higher volatility.
Movement Labs’ Layer 1 Ambitions
On September 16, Movement Labs confirmed that it will launch its own Layer 1 blockchain designed for speed, stability, and decentralization. The chain aims to process 10,000+ transactions per second with sub-second finality, removing reliance on a centralized sequencer.
Other key upgrades include:
- Staking through a validator network secured by MOVE tokens.
- Move 2 programming language, offering developers greater flexibility and new features.
- A public devnet rollout in the near future.
The team stressed that existing contracts and user funds will remain unaffected by the transition.
Technical Picture: Consolidation Near Resistance
For now, MOVE is stuck in a consolidation range. On the daily chart, the price is testing the upper Bollinger Band at $0.134. Breaking above could set up a run toward the next resistance levels at $0.15 and $0.16.
Momentum indicators are mixed:
- RSI at 49 shows the market is neutral not overbought or oversold.
- MACD has flipped bullish, hinting at upward potential.
- Short-term moving averages (10- and 20-day) remain close to the spot price.
- Longer-term averages are still bearish, with the 50-day EMA at $0.1319 and the 100-day EMA at $0.1546, reflecting pressure from previous downtrends.
Other signals, like the Commodity Channel Index at 50 and Stochastic RSI at 61, also point to limited momentum consistent with a consolidation phase.
What’s Next for MOVE?
The coming weeks could prove decisive. A breakout above $0.134 may ignite a push toward $0.15–$0.16, while a rejection could pull MOVE back to its support at $0.124 or $0.113.
With trading volume surging and Movement Labs preparing for its Layer 1 debut, all eyes are on whether MOVE can break free from its consolidation zone and turn fresh momentum into a lasting rally.
