Despite the recent dip across the crypto market, Ethereum (ETH) is proving it’s not one to stay down for long. The second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap has bounced back with serious strength reclaiming the $3,100 mark for the first time since February and gaining nearly 7% in the past 24 hours. At the time of writing, ETH is trading around $3,153, making it one of the best-performing assets of the day.
This surge follows a short-lived drop to $2,965 just days ago as the broader market corrected after an extended rally. But Ethereum’s rebound hasn’t just been a blip it’s now up 21% over the past week, far outpacing Bitcoin and most other major assets.
What’s Fueling Ethereum’s Rise?
A big part of the story is renewed institutional demand. Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) linked to Ethereum have seen $192 million in inflows recently, reflecting growing interest from large investors. More institutions are also reportedly adding ETH to their treasury reserves, seeing it as a long-term bet on the future of decentralized tech.
But institutions aren’t the only ones driving this wave.
A report from Matrixport highlights that much of ETH’s recent gains came during Asian trading hours, signaling that Asian investors are playing a crucial role in pushing the price higher. That demand has helped Ethereum punch through resistance levels and recapture market momentum.
Is It ETH’s Turn to Shine?
Former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes seems to think so. He’s long suggested an “ETH season” is coming—and the current momentum appears to support that call. As ETH gains strength, the market narrative is starting to shift, with many analysts pointing to a potential trend reversal in Ethereum’s favor.
Crypto analyst Matthew Hyland recently added fuel to the fire, suggesting that if ETH continues to rise against Bitcoin and holds its ground, there’s a “99% chance” that Bitcoin dominance has peaked.
“It’s basically impossible for [BTC] dominance to push higher if ETH continues higher against BTC,” Hyland noted on X (formerly Twitter).
A decline in Bitcoin dominance typically signals a flow of capital into altcoins, with Ethereum often leading the charge. Historically, this kind of shift marks the beginning of a broader “alt season,” where alternative cryptocurrencies rally across the board.
The Big Picture
With ETF flows increasing, institutional adoption picking up, and Asian demand surging, Ethereum appears poised to take the spotlight in the next leg of the crypto bull run.
If momentum keeps building, ETH might not just revisit its all-time highs it could lead the entire market forward.
