Solana is making a strong comeback not just in price, but across its entire decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
On July 21, SOL surged to $194.62, pushing Solana’s market cap back above $100 billion for the first time since January. The bullish momentum isn’t limited to price action, though. Solana’s DeFi total value locked (TVL) has climbed to $10.45 billion, marking its highest point in over six months, according to DeFiLlama.
This sharp rise in DeFi TVL is closely tied to SOL’s rally. Since many Solana-based DeFi protocols hold large amounts of SOL as collateral, the token’s price surge directly boosts the USD value of the assets locked across lending pools, smart contracts, and yield vaults.
DEX Volume Also Sees a Jump, But Still Below January Highs
Solana’s decentralized exchanges (DEXs) also saw a healthy uptick in activity. Between July 14 and July 20, Solana-based DEXs processed $22.58 billion in volume, up from $18.5 billion the week before. Leading the charge were:
- Raydium: $8.4 billion
- Orca: $5.9 billion
- Meteora: $5.3 billion
Despite the spike, current DEX volumes are still a far cry from the January peak of $98.28 billion. Still, the recent rebound signals renewed interest in trading and liquidity provision on Solana.
What’s Behind the DeFi Growth?
The main driver appears to be SOL’s price performance. As the token gains value, so do the DeFi assets denominated in SOL. This helps explain why the network’s TVL has spiked, even if actual user activity and trading volumes haven’t yet returned to previous highs.
It’s worth noting that Solana’s DeFi TVL doesn’t include tokens staked with validators for securing the network an important distinction. Currently, 355.4 million SOL, worth around $69.44 billion, is staked for network security. Additionally, tokens held on centralized exchanges are also excluded from TVL metrics.

Solana’s resurgence in both price and DeFi activity is a sign of growing momentum in the ecosystem. While trading volumes aren’t quite at January levels, the combination of rising SOL prices and steady DEX activity paints a bullish picture for what lies ahead.
