Circle Internet Group stock surged more than 35% on Wednesday, marking its strongest single-day performance since going public.
Shares climbed to around $83, their highest level since mid-January, pushing the company’s market capitalization close to $20 billion. The rally followed stronger-than-expected earnings and rapid growth in USDC circulation.
However, even as analysts praised the results, some lowered their price targets while still maintaining a bullish outlook.
Analysts Trim Target but Stay Positive
Canaccord Genuity reduced its price target for Circle’s stock (CRCL) from $247 to $160 a 35% cut.
Despite the downgrade, analysts maintained a positive rating, noting that the new target still implies roughly 93% upside from current levels.
In their research note, analysts highlighted:
- Stablecoin supply growth exceeding expectations
- Strong quarterly revenue performance
- Expanding institutional adoption
Circle’s stablecoins in circulation have grown by more than 100% year over year, reaching approximately $75 billion. The company expects long-term compound annual growth of over 40%.
Circle Payment Network as a Growth Catalyst
One of the biggest long-term catalysts identified by analysts is Circle Payment Network (CPN).
CPN is designed to offer a faster and more cost-efficient alternative to traditional cross-border systems like SWIFT. Instead of relying on legacy banking infrastructure, institutions can use stablecoins to move money globally within seconds.
According to analysts:
- Annualized transaction volume has surpassed $5.7 billion
- More than 55 institutions are already connected to the network
If adoption accelerates, CPN could become a meaningful revenue driver.
Arc Blockchain Could Expand Revenue Streams
Circle is also building its own layer-1 blockchain called Arc.
Analysts believe that over time, CPN may operate directly on Arc, potentially capturing more value within Circle’s ecosystem. Hundreds of developers have reportedly shown interest in building on the network.
If successful, Arc could transform Circle from a stablecoin issuer into a broader blockchain infrastructure provider.
Why Analysts Call Circle the ‘Switzerland of Stablecoins’
Canaccord described Circle as the “Switzerland of stablecoins” because stablecoins represent its core and only business focus.
Unlike diversified fintech companies that may launch competing digital currencies for strategic reasons, Circle is dedicated entirely to stablecoin infrastructure.
Analysts also noted that USDC is among the largest stablecoins aligned with the U.S. GENIUS Act regulatory framework. This regulatory positioning could strengthen institutional confidence.
The report also raised a competitive question: would major retailers or financial giants readily accept a rival company’s stablecoin? This dynamic may give neutral providers like Circle an advantage.
Other Wall Street Views
Other analysts also adjusted their outlook:
- Needham & Company lowered its price target from $190 to $130.
- William Blair reiterated an outperform rating.
The broader Wall Street consensus target now stands near $131, implying roughly 57% upside from current levels.
The Bigger Picture
Circle’s latest earnings demonstrate strong momentum in stablecoin adoption and revenue growth. However, analysts are recalibrating expectations as interest rate dynamics and competitive pressures evolve.
Even with reduced price targets, major banks continue to express confidence in Circle’s long-term position within the stablecoin ecosystem.
For investors, the key question now is whether stablecoin infrastructure including USDC, CPN, and Arc can sustain its rapid growth trajectory in a changing macro environment.
