SharpLink Gaming, Inc. is doubling down on its Ethereum bet. The Nasdaq-listed firm revealed on September 2 that it purchased an additional 39,008 ETH worth about $46.6 million through its ongoing capital-raising strategy.
The fresh buy brings SharpLink’s total stash to a massive 837,230 ETH, valued at roughly $3.6 billion. On top of that, the Minneapolis-based company still has $71 million in cash waiting to be deployed into more Ether, signaling that further moves are likely in the pipeline.
Joseph Chalom, SharpLink’s Co-CEO, highlighted the opportunistic nature of the strategy:
“We remain opportunistic in our capital raising initiatives and will continue to closely monitor market conditions to maximize shareholder value.”
Turning SBET Into an Ethereum Proxy
With this aggressive accumulation, SharpLink is positioning its stock, SBET, as a unique proxy for Ethereum. Instead of just functioning as a traditional gaming company, SharpLink has reshaped its identity to align with what it calls “the future of digital capital.”
This shift gives traditional investors exposure to ETH through a regulated equity vehicle no need for wallets, private keys, or on-chain management.
A key metric that reflects this pivot is SharpLink’s “ETH Concentration” ratio, which measures how much ETH backs each share. As of now, the ratio has surged to 3.94 ETH per 1,000 diluted shares a jump of 97% since the strategy launched on June 2. In simple terms, every share of SBET now represents a bigger slice of Ethereum, reinforcing the stock’s value as a direct proxy for ETH.
Staking Rewards Add Extra Value
SharpLink isn’t just sitting on its ETH either. The company has been actively staking, earning 2,318 ETH in rewards—worth over $10 million at current prices. This passive yield bolsters the long-term value of its treasury while contributing extra income.
Joining the “Big Boys” ETH Club
The latest purchase cements SharpLink’s spot among the largest corporate holders of Ethereum worldwide. According to EthereumTreasuries.net, the company now ranks second globally, just behind BitMine Immersion’s staggering 1.7 million ETH treasury.
This leapfrogs SharpLink ahead of other big names like The Ether Machine and ETHZilla, signaling growing confidence in Ethereum’s role as a long-term digital asset among publicly traded companies.
