Lido DAO, the decentralized organization behind the largest liquid staking protocol in decentralized finance, has unveiled a proposal outlining ambitious plans to move beyond its core Ethereum staking business in 2026. The proposal, recently published by the DAO, includes a $60 million budget aimed at transforming Lido into a multi-product ecosystem.
The proposal, titled “2026 Ecosystem Grant Request (EGG): Executing GOOSE-3,” lays out a strategy to reduce Lido’s reliance on a single revenue source by expanding its product offerings. If approved, the funding would be directed toward developing new financial products designed to create additional income streams and strengthen the protocol’s long-term resilience.
According to the document, Lido plans to introduce new earning products and vault structures tailored to different types of users. These include solutions for on-chain treasuries as well as products suitable for regulated entities, signaling a push toward broader institutional and organizational adoption.
The proposal emphasizes a strategic shift in how Lido positions itself within the decentralized finance landscape. Rather than operating solely as a liquid staking provider, the DAO aims to evolve into an organization with a diversified product portfolio capable of adapting to changing market conditions.
Liquid staking has been a key driver of DeFi growth, allowing users to stake their crypto assets while retaining liquidity and earning rewards at the same time. While this model has fueled Lido’s success, the DAO appears keen to future-proof the protocol by expanding beyond staking as its primary focus.
Before any of these plans can move forward, the proposal must receive approval from Lido DAO token holders. A successful vote would mark a significant step in Lido’s evolution, positioning the protocol for broader utility and more sustainable growth in the years ahead.
