Singapore-based AI-powered education firm Genius Group is taking an unprecedented step in aligning shareholder interests with a Bitcoin-centric treasury strategy. The company announced on June 26 that it will allocate 100% of any future legal settlements equally between special dividends to shareholders and Bitcoin purchases for its corporate reserves.
Legal Battles Worth Over $1 Billion
Genius Group is currently pursuing two major lawsuits aimed at recovering over $1 billion in damages. The first, already filed under the RICO Act in the Southern District of Florida, seeks more than $750 million for damages allegedly caused by former partners and executives.
The second case, which is expected to be filed soon, targets entities involved in naked short selling and market manipulation. Estimated damages for this case already exceed $260 million, with the potential to grow based on trading data from 2024 and 2025.
“As both lawsuits are being pursued by the Company to recover damages caused by third parties directly to our shareholders, the Board believes that 100% of any proceeds… should be directly distributed or reinvested for the benefit of shareholders,” said CEO Roger Hamilton.
Distribution Plan: 50% to Dividends, 50% to Bitcoin
According to the company’s new plan, net proceeds from these legal actions after deducting legal fees and taxes will be split:
- 50% as special dividends to Genius Group shareholders
- 50% allocated to purchase Bitcoin (BTC) for the company’s treasury
This move underscores Genius Group’s dual commitment to direct shareholder rewards and its long-term bet on Bitcoin as a reserve asset.
Doubling Down on Bitcoin
The announcement comes shortly after Genius Group boosted its BTC holdings by 52% in a single month, following the lifting of a U.S. court-imposed restriction on crypto acquisitions. The company added 34 BTC at an average price of $100,600 per BTC, bringing its total to 100 BTC valued at just over $10 million.
CEO Roger Hamilton reaffirmed the firm’s target of accumulating 1,000 BTC, a strategy he says aligns with both shareholder value creation and treasury resilience.
“Bitcoin is our chosen reserve asset,” Hamilton previously stated. “With the regulatory cloud cleared, we are moving full speed ahead toward our 1,000 BTC milestone.”
A New Corporate Treasury Paradigm
Genius Group’s approach reflects a broader trend of companies integrating Bitcoin into their financial strategies. However, combining legal recovery funds with crypto acquisition plans marks a rare, if not unique, strategy in the corporate world one that may catch the attention of both investors and regulators.
The firm’s legal progress and market moves will likely be closely watched as it continues to bridge the worlds of education technology, legal accountability, and decentralized finance.
