Ethereum is showing renewed strength after recovering toward $2,500, but ETH still needs to break a major resistance zone before a larger rally can develop.
Ethereum traded around $2,500 on Sept. 18 after gaining nearly 3% over the previous 24 hours. During the session, ETH moved between approximately $2,427 and $2,518 as buyers continued defending support near $2,400.
The rebound has improved short-term momentum, but Ethereum remains below an important resistance area between roughly $2,527 and $2,550.
A confirmed breakout above this zone could shift attention toward $2,600 before larger resistance between $2,700 and $2,800 comes into play.
However, failure to break $2,550 could keep ETH inside the trading range that has controlled price action since late August.
Ethereum price recovers toward $2,500
Ethereum’s latest rebound began after ETH dropped toward $2,385 earlier in the week.
Buyers stepped in around the lower support area and gradually pushed the cryptocurrency back toward $2,500.
The daily session opened near $2,447, while Ethereum reached a high of approximately $2,522 and a low near $2,437.
The move brought ETH back toward the upper portion of its recent consolidation range.
While the recovery is encouraging for buyers, Ethereum has yet to confirm a breakout from the resistance area that has repeatedly limited upside movement.
The $2,550 level therefore remains one of the most important prices to watch.
Ethereum approaches the upper Bollinger Band
Ethereum’s daily chart shows ETH trading above the Bollinger Band midpoint near $2,467.
This level could act as the first dynamic support if the current rally begins to lose momentum.
The upper Bollinger Band sits near $2,549, almost directly in line with the psychological $2,550 resistance level.
Ethereum has struggled to maintain moves above this area since its sharp rally in August.
A daily close above $2,550 would push ETH beyond the upper part of its recent trading range and could provide stronger confirmation that buyers are regaining control.
If that happens, the next resistance area would sit near $2,600.
Beyond $2,600, Ethereum could face a larger supply zone between approximately $2,700 and $2,800.
ETH momentum remains positive
Ethereum’s daily Relative Strength Index remains supportive without showing heavily overbought conditions.
The RSI stood at approximately 58.35, while its signal line was slightly higher at 59.74.
An RSI reading above 50 generally indicates that buying momentum has an advantage.
However, the indicator remaining below its signal line suggests that Ethereum’s latest rebound has not yet developed into a fully confirmed breakout.
A stronger move above $2,550 accompanied by improving momentum could strengthen the bullish technical setup.
Until then, ETH remains inside its broader consolidation range.
Four-hour Ethereum chart shows improving momentum
Ethereum’s four-hour chart also shows signs of recovery.
After falling below $2,400 during the Sept. 16 sell-off, ETH began forming higher short-term lows and moved back toward $2,500.
The Bull Bear Power indicator increased to approximately 85.09, suggesting stronger buying pressure during the latest rebound.
Positive histogram bars also expanded as ETH moved higher.
However, one important indicator remains bearish.
The four-hour Supertrend resistance is positioned near $2,526.61.
Ethereum would need to close above this level before the Supertrend shifts in favor of buyers.
$2,527–$2,550 becomes the main resistance zone
Rather than focusing on a single price, traders may want to watch the broader resistance region between approximately $2,527 and $2,550.
The lower end of this range comes from the four-hour Supertrend, while the upper end closely matches the daily Bollinger Band resistance.
Because the two indicators are positioned relatively close together, breaking this entire zone would provide stronger technical confirmation than temporarily moving above one individual level.
If Ethereum successfully clears $2,550, the next major target would likely become $2,600.
A sustained move above $2,600 could then bring the $2,700 to $2,800 region into focus.
Ethereum liquidation data highlights $2,630–$2,650
Ethereum’s liquidation map also shows potentially important levels above the current market.
The closest liquidity concentration appeared around $2,490 to $2,520, overlapping with ETH’s current trading area.
Larger liquidation clusters were visible around $2,630 and $2,650.
The $2,650 area represented one of the strongest concentrations on the heatmap.
Liquidation heatmaps show where leveraged positions could face forced closure, but they do not guarantee that the market will move toward those prices.
Still, if Ethereum breaks above $2,550, movement toward these higher liquidity areas could increase volatility.
Short sellers positioned above the market could be forced to close positions if ETH continues climbing, potentially adding additional buying pressure.
ETH support builds around $2,440
There are also important liquidation and technical levels below Ethereum’s current price.
Liquidity concentrations appear around $2,440 and $2,410.
These areas overlap with support formed during Ethereum’s recent recovery.
The four-hour chart places important short-term support near $2,442.
If ETH falls below this level, the recent pattern of higher lows would weaken.
That could bring $2,400 back into focus, followed by the larger support zone near $2,385.
The daily lower Bollinger Band also sits close to $2,385, increasing the technical importance of this area.
Ethereum analysts focus on $2,550 breakout
Several analysts are watching the same resistance region.
Pseudonymous trader Batman described Ethereum’s recent structure as a rally-base-rally pattern.
The analyst identified the base of the structure near $2,385, while the upper boundary sits around $2,550 to $2,600.
A rally-base-rally structure generally describes a strong upward move followed by consolidation and then a potential continuation higher.
However, the continuation phase would still require Ethereum to break out of its current range.
Analyst Ted Pillows also identified $2,550 as a major resistance level.
According to the analyst’s outlook, a weekly close above that level could improve the chances of Ethereum extending higher.
His chart identified another significant resistance area near $2,800 before any larger upside target could become relevant.
These are analyst projections rather than guaranteed price outcomes.
Could Ethereum price reach $2,800?
A move toward $2,800 would depend first on Ethereum successfully breaking several closer resistance levels.
The immediate challenge is the $2,527 to $2,550 area.
If buyers push ETH above this zone and maintain the breakout, $2,600 would become the next important resistance level.
Liquidation concentrations around $2,630 to $2,650 could then become relevant.
Beyond those levels, Ethereum could begin testing the broader supply zone between $2,700 and $2,800.
The bullish scenario therefore depends on ETH establishing support above its current resistance rather than simply touching higher prices temporarily.
Key Ethereum resistance levels
Ethereum’s first major resistance sits around $2,527, where the four-hour Supertrend remains bearish.
The next level is approximately $2,549 to $2,550, where the upper daily Bollinger Band and psychological resistance meet.
A confirmed breakout above this area could expose $2,600.
The liquidation clusters between $2,630 and $2,650 would then become another important region.
If ETH maintains momentum beyond those levels, traders could begin focusing more closely on the $2,700 to $2,800 zone.
Key Ethereum support levels
The first major support sits near the Bollinger Band midpoint around $2,467.
Below that, the $2,440 to $2,442 area is particularly important for maintaining Ethereum’s short-term higher-low structure.
Additional support exists around $2,410 and $2,400.
If selling pressure pushes ETH below these levels, attention could return to $2,385.
A decisive break below $2,385 would weaken the current recovery structure and increase the risk of a deeper correction.
What comes next for Ethereum price?
Ethereum’s short-term technical picture has improved as buyers pushed the cryptocurrency back toward $2,500.
However, the market has not yet confirmed a larger breakout.
ETH needs to move decisively through the $2,527 to $2,550 resistance area before the bullish structure becomes stronger.
If that happens, $2,600 could become the next target, followed by liquidation zones around $2,630 to $2,650.
Continued momentum could eventually place the broader $2,700 to $2,800 resistance region in focus.
On the downside, Ethereum needs to remain above approximately $2,467 to preserve its immediate momentum.
A break below $2,442 would weaken the short-term setup, while a move below $2,400 could expose the important $2,385 support level again.
For now, the $2,550 region remains the key level separating Ethereum’s current consolidation from the possibility of a larger breakout.
