What goes up must come down and right now, Pump.fun is feeling the weight of gravity. Once the unstoppable engine behind memecoin mania, the popular launchpad is now facing a sharp slowdown in momentum, falling revenues, legal trouble, and growing competition.
From $7M a Day to Under $300K
Back in January 2025, Pump.fun was pulling in over $7 million a day, riding high as the go-to platform for fast and easy token launches. But according to DefiLlama, things have changed fast: by July 28, daily revenue dropped to just $297,000, one of its lowest since September 2024.
Although the numbers have ticked up slightly since, it’s clear the platform is in a downtrend and the reasons go deeper than just short-term volatility.
What’s Behind Pump.fun’s Struggles?
1. Legal Woes Are Piling Up
A major weight dragging Pump.fun down is a growing list of legal challenges. A class-action lawsuit, first filed in January and updated this month, claims the platform is running a fraudulent scheme accusing it of rigging token launches and profiting from insider trades.
Worse still, new allegations have surfaced involving wire fraud and racketeering, making this more than just a regulatory slap on the wrist. The case, filed in New York, has added serious pressure and may be spooking both users and developers.
2. Traders Are Jumping Ship
Meanwhile, trader interest is shifting fast. The once-dominant platform is losing ground to new competitors like LetsBonk, a Solana-based launchpad that made its debut in April.
In the past month alone, Pump.fun’s share of token launches on Solana has dropped by nearly 70%, according to Dune Analytics. And in the last 24 hours, LetsBonk recorded nearly 20,000 token launchesmore than four times what Pump.fun pulled off, at just over 4,600.
3. The PUMP Token Isn’t Helping
Pump.fun’s own native token, PUMP, hasn’t exactly lived up to its name. After a brief rally post-launch, the token has plunged 30% this week and is down 59% over the past month. Traders aren’t impressed and it’s showing in their activity.
Shrinking User Base and Mounting Losses
The user base is shrinking, too. In January, active addresses on Pump.fun peaked at 425,000. Today? That number is down to just 65,000.
Even more alarming: a report from crypto.news in June revealed that over 60% of traders on the platform are losing money. Of the 2.4 million wallets analyzed over six months, most were down at least $1,000. Around 30,000 wallets lost between $10K–$100K, and 46 wallets were hit with losses over $1 million.
Is This the End of the Pump?
Pump.fun isn’t dead but it’s definitely wounded. With lawsuits piling up, traders moving on, and confidence shaken, the platform’s future looks uncertain. Can it adapt, recover, and re-capture the energy that once made it the center of the memecoin universe?
Right now, it’s clear: Pump.fun isn’t pumping like it used to and the clock is ticking.
