Chainlink (LINK) has been on a strong run, rising for five consecutive days to reach its highest level in nearly two weeks. The token’s momentum looks set to continue as whale investors expand their holdings and the newly launched LINK Reserves attract millions in assets.
Why Chainlink Could See More Gains
Fresh data shows whales have been steadily accumulating LINK. According to Nansen, their holdings have grown by 22% over the past month, reaching 5 million tokens. This signals strong confidence in the token’s future upside.
At the same time, investors have been moving LINK out of exchanges and into self-custody wallets. Exchange balances have dropped from 275 million tokens in August to 270 million as of September 11, reducing selling pressure and further tightening supply.
Chainlink’s broader fundamentals also continue to strengthen. In recent months, the network has been used by the U.S. government to share macroeconomic data, highlighting its growing utility. On top of that, partnerships keep rolling in the latest with UBS, the world’s largest wealth manager. The deal will help automate tokenized fund operations in Hong Kong, signaling that major institutions are beginning to rely on Chainlink’s infrastructure.
Adding to the bullish backdrop, the Strategic LINK Reserves, launched just a month ago, have already grown to $5.3 million in assets. This new reserve program reinforces long-term demand for LINK. Meanwhile, anticipation is building around possible approval of LINK ETFs from firms like Bitwise and Grayscale, which could open the door to a wave of institutional inflows.
Technical Picture: A Cup-and-Handle in Play
From a charting perspective, Chainlink has been resilient. The token bottomed at $10 in April before rebounding to its current level around $24. It remains well above the 100-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA), a key indicator of ongoing bullish momentum.
More importantly, LINK appears to be shaping a cup-and-handle pattern on the daily chart. The “cup” spans a roughly 62% range, and projecting this move higher suggests a potential breakout to $43—an 86% jump from current prices.
Outlook
With whale demand rising, partnerships expanding, and technicals flashing bullish signals, Chainlink looks well-positioned for further upside. If momentum continues, traders may soon see LINK test new resistance levels, with the $43 zone standing out as the next major target.
