Solana price moved lower on Wednesday after buyers failed to push through a major resistance area. The pullback brought SOL close to the important $90 support zone, a level traders are now watching closely.
According to crypto.news data, Solana traded near $91 on May 14 after dropping from a weekly high of around $97.5. Even after the decline, SOL remains well above its April lows near $76, showing that the broader recovery has not fully broken down yet.
However, the latest move suggests that bullish momentum may be slowing after several weeks of strong gains.
SOL Faces Rejection Near Fibonacci Resistance
Solana’s recent rally ran into resistance near the $94–$98 zone. This area includes the 0.786 Fibonacci retracement level near $93.82 and the recent swing high around $98.47.
That rejection has now shifted attention back to the 0.618 Fibonacci retracement level near $90.17. This zone has become the most important short-term support for Solana bulls.
If buyers can defend this level, SOL may continue forming higher lows and keep its recovery structure intact. But if the token breaks below $90 with strong selling pressure, the market could see a deeper correction.
MACD Signals Possible Bearish Crossover
Momentum indicators are starting to show early signs of weakness. The MACD histogram has been shrinking after a strong expansion earlier this month, suggesting that buying pressure is fading.
The MACD line is also moving closer to the signal line. If a bearish crossover forms on the daily chart, it could confirm that Solana’s recent upside momentum is cooling.
A bearish MACD crossover does not always mean a major breakdown, but it often points to a slower trend or a short-term correction, especially when price is already struggling near resistance.
RSI Cools From Strong Levels
Solana’s Relative Strength Index has also pulled back from near-overbought conditions. The RSI is now sitting around the neutral 55–58 range.
This shows that buyers still have some control, but the market is no longer as strong as it was during the earlier part of the rally. In simple terms, SOL is not fully bearish yet, but bulls need to act quickly to prevent further weakness.
Why Solana Recently Rallied
Solana’s recent strength came from several positive factors. Broader crypto market sentiment improved, and traders became more optimistic about Solana’s upcoming Alpenglow upgrade and Firedancer validator developments.
Activity across Solana-based DeFi platforms and memecoin trading also helped increase demand for SOL. At the same time, futures open interest rose, while positive funding rates showed that leveraged traders were becoming more bullish.
That strong positioning can support price during a rally, but it can also increase downside risk if traders begin closing long positions during a pullback.
Key Levels to Watch for SOL
If Solana loses the $90 support zone, sellers may target the next support areas near $87.6 and $85. These levels line up with previous consolidation zones and important Fibonacci retracement areas.
On the upside, bulls need to reclaim the $94–$96 resistance range to weaken the short-term bearish setup. A stronger move above this zone could bring the $100 level back into focus.
If SOL breaks above $100 with strong volume, the next possible resistance levels may appear near $103 and $106.
Solana Outlook
For now, Solana’s short-term direction depends on whether bulls can defend the $90 support region. Holding this level would keep the recovery structure alive and could give buyers another chance to push toward $100.
However, a clean break below $90 could invite more selling and increase the risk of a correction toward $87 or $85.
Solana remains in a cautiously constructive position, but momentum indicators are flashing warning signs. Traders are now watching whether buyers can step in before the bearish crossover fully develops.
