Uniswap (UNI) is showing signs of renewed strength after bouncing sharply from recent lows. The token is now holding firm above the $3.80 support zone, and traders are closely watching a key governance proposal that could directly impact UNI’s long-term value.
At the time of writing, UNI is trading near $4.02, up roughly 10% in the past 24 hours. Over the past week, the token has gained 18%, signaling strong short-term momentum. However, it still remains about 15% lower on the monthly timeframe, leaving room for recovery if bullish momentum continues.
Rising Volume Signals Fresh Market Interest
One of the most notable developments is the sharp increase in trading activity.
Spot trading volume surged to $554 million, rising 119% in just one day. At the same time, futures volume climbed nearly 80% to $640.5 million. Open interest also increased by more than 15%, reaching $285.6 million.
When both trading volume and open interest rise together, it often indicates that new positions are being opened. This suggests traders are positioning ahead of a potential breakout rather than simply closing existing short positions.
That shift in activity usually signals growing conviction in the market.
How the Fee Switch Proposal Could Add Direct Value to UNI
The main catalyst behind the renewed interest is a governance proposal aimed at expanding Uniswap’s fee switch system.
After the 2025 UNIfication rollout introduced protocol fees on Ethereum and began UNI token burns, the new proposal seeks to extend this system across eight additional Layer 2 networks, including Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism.
If approved, protocol fees collected on these networks would be automatically bridged back to Ethereum mainnet. The funds would then be used to buy and burn UNI tokens.
This change could increase annualized protocol revenue from $34 million to approximately $61 million.
More importantly, it directly links trading activity to token supply reduction. As usage increases, more UNI could be bought and burned, tightening supply over time.
This value-capture mechanism tends to attract long-term investors because it ties network growth to measurable token economics.
The vote is happening in two phases. The first phase is already live, while the second runs from Feb. 27 to March 1. The outcome could significantly influence short-term price action.
Technical Outlook: Is $4.60 Within Reach?
From a technical perspective, UNI has built a solid base between $3.70 and $3.80. Buyers have repeatedly stepped in at this level, reinforcing it as a strong support zone.
Bollinger Bands have tightened, often a sign that volatility expansion may follow. Momentum indicators are also improving, with the relative strength index pushing back above the midline.
Price is currently testing a descending trendline that has capped rallies since December. It is also pressing against short-term moving averages.
If UNI breaks above $4.20 with strong volume, the next logical target sits around $4.55 to $4.60. This zone aligns with a prior breakdown area and moving average resistance.
A 20% rally from the $3.80 support area would project price directly into that range.
However, the bullish scenario would weaken if UNI falls below $3.70. A breakdown under that level could open the door for a retest of the $3.30 zone.
Market Sentiment Remains Cautiously Optimistic
With trading volumes rising and governance changes potentially increasing token burns, market sentiment around UNI is gradually improving.
Still, traders are waiting for confirmation. The combination of technical resistance at $4.20 and the pending governance vote creates a decisive moment for price direction.
If the proposal passes and buyers push through resistance, UNI could see a meaningful short-term rally. If not, consolidation may continue until a stronger catalyst emerges.
For now, the $3.80 support remains the key level to watch.
