Sharplink is strengthening its position in the Ethereum staking market after receiving 459 ETH in staking rewards this week. The company’s total staking rewards have now reached 18,309 ETH, supported by nearly 900,000 ETH held as part of its institutional treasury strategy.
The company stakes almost all of its Ethereum holdings, using Ethereum’s proof-of-stake system to generate yield while helping secure the network. This approach shows how ETH is no longer viewed only as a digital asset. For some institutions, it is becoming a productive treasury asset that can earn ongoing rewards.
Ethereum staking has also reached a major milestone. More than 36 million ETH is now staked, representing around 30% of the total supply. This means a large share of Ethereum is being used to secure the blockchain and support validator activity.
Sharplink’s strategy comes as institutional interest in Ethereum staking continues to rise. Companies, ETFs, and tokenized finance products are increasingly exploring ways to earn staking rewards without directly managing validator infrastructure.
One major example is 21Shares, which announced staking reward distributions for its Ethereum ETF, TETH. This allows ETF investors to benefit from ETH staking rewards through a traditional investment product.
JPMorgan’s move toward Ethereum-based tokenized funds also adds weight to the trend. It signals that major financial institutions are becoming more comfortable using Ethereum as a settlement and asset-management layer.
Sharplink is now one of the largest institutional Ethereum treasury players. Its staking model aims to increase ETH per share over time while producing regular validator rewards. This gives the company a different profile from firms that simply hold crypto without generating yield.
However, the rise of large institutional validators also brings concerns. When a few major players control large amounts of staked ETH, questions around decentralization become more important. Ethereum’s security depends not only on the amount of ETH staked, but also on how widely validators are distributed.
For now, Sharplink’s growing staking rewards highlight a broader shift in the crypto market. Ethereum is increasingly being treated as a yield-bearing financial layer for institutions, ETFs, and tokenized assets. If this trend continues, staking may become one of the strongest reasons institutions choose Ethereum over other blockchain networks.
