OKX has teamed up with Tether to roll out USDT0, a new unified liquidity version of Tether’s USDT, across its ecosystem including X Layer (Ethereum layer-2), the OKX Wallet, and the OKX Exchange. The move instantly connects 80 million users to deeper, cross-chain stablecoin liquidity.
What It Means for Users
With this integration, OKX customers can now deposit and withdraw USDT0 directly through the wallet and exchange. More importantly, they gain seamless access to liquidity across multiple networks where USDT0 is already live including Arbitrum, Optimism, Unichain, Polygon, Berachain, and others.
Unlike wrapped tokens or risky bridges, USDT0 runs on LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard, which guarantees 1:1 backing with canonical USDT. Transfers are verifiable, instant, and designed to make cross-rollup settlement faster and safer.
Why It Matters
Stablecoins are quickly becoming the “backbone of onchain finance”, and this partnership pushes that idea further. OKX says the rollout aligns with its multichain strategy, making its X Layer not just an Ethereum-compatible layer-2, but a “New Money Chain” designed for smooth, low-cost value exchange.
And the numbers back it up: in under a year, USDT0 has already processed $11.3 billion in cross-chain bridge volume, covering more than 251,000 transfers across nine networks. It’s now the most active OFT in the LayerZero ecosystem.
The Bigger Picture
Behind the scenes, Everdawn Labs which also supports XAUt0 and Tether’s Alloy project helped bring USDT0 to life. OKX notes, however, that certain features tied to USDT0 may not yet be available in Europe.
