Pyth Network (PYTH) exploded higher this week, surging more than 60% after the U.S. Department of Commerce announced it had selected the oracle platform as a key partner in verifying and distributing official economic data on-chain.

U.S. Government Puts GDP Data on the Blockchain
The Department of Commerce confirmed it will begin publishing key U.S. economic data directly on multiple blockchains, starting with gross domestic product (GDP). July data showed annualized GDP growth at 3.3%, and that figure is now available on-chain.
The rollout spans major blockchains including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, along with Stellar, TRON, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Polygon, and Optimism.
Both Pyth Network and Chainlink (LINK) were tapped to verify and distribute this data across ecosystems, while major exchanges such as Coinbase, Gemini, and Kraken were enlisted to publish it.
“We are making America’s economic truth immutable and globally accessible like never before, cementing our role as the blockchain capital of the world,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick. “And everybody has to admit that 3.3% GDP growth is impressive.”
