Mantle Network is expanding the reach of its native token, MNT, by integrating with LayerZero’s omnichain standard. The move marks a significant step toward interoperability, allowing Mantle’s token to flow seamlessly across multiple blockchains.
MNT Goes Omnichain With LayerZero
Announced this week, Mantle will use LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard to bring true cross-chain functionality to MNT. By doing so, the project aims to eliminate liquidity silos and ensure that the token can be used and accessed seamlessly across ecosystems.
Mantle is leveraging its native bridge to facilitate the integration, initially enabling transfers from Ethereum to other chains. The first supported destination is HyperEVM, a general-purpose blockchain within the Hyperliquid ecosystem that offers Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility for developers.
Mantle has confirmed that support will expand to additional LayerZero-supported chains in the future.
“Our new interoperable strategy setup for $MNT with LayerZero means more than just seamless UX. It enhances and broadens $MNT’s reach, utility & liquidity as a value asset across ecosystems far beyond Mantle Network,” the platform posted on X.
Building a Broader Ecosystem
The omnichain integration is just the latest in Mantle’s growing list of ecosystem upgrades. Recently, the project partnered with Para to launch Mantle Passport, a distributed multi-party computation (MPC) wallet. The Passport aims to simplify Web3 access for everyday users by offering a self-custodial, universal wallet compatible with dApps across Mantle’s ecosystem.
Market Reaction: MNT Price Climbs
News of the LayerZero partnership coincided with a rally in MNT price, which climbed to $1.38 on the day of the announcement.
The momentum was further fueled by broader industry developments, including the U.S. Department of Commerce’s decision to publish economic data on-chain. The department revealed that GDP data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis will now be distributed across several blockchains including Mantle, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Avalanche, ZKsync, and Optimism.
