After months of flying under the radar, Sui is making waves again both on-chain and on the price charts. The Layer 1 blockchain, built on the Move language, has staged an impressive comeback, reclaiming a spot among the top 10 chains by Total Value Locked (TVL) and showing signs of a breakout in its token price.
Sui’s TVL Surges Past $2 Billion
As of July 15, 2025, data from DeFiLlama shows Sui’s TVL has climbed to $2.19 billion, a sharp rebound from its May low of $1.5 billion. This milestone isn’t just a number it reflects growing confidence, adoption, and capital flowing back into the Sui ecosystem.
SUI Token Gains Momentum
The native SUI token has also come alive. After bottoming out near $2.30 in June, the price has jumped around 65% and is now trading above $3.95, with a 36% gain just in the past week. It’s still shy of its all-time high of $5.30 set in January, but the recent surge suggests it might not stay that way for long.
It’s Not Just the Price Real Usage Is Growing
Importantly, Sui’s rise isn’t only about speculation. On-chain activity is ramping up. In fact, Sui recently overtook Solana in monthly stablecoin transfer volume, signaling increased real-world usage and user engagement.
DeFi participation is also climbing, thanks in part to the July 7 integration of tBTC, which brought Bitcoin-backed liquidity to the Sui network. That move has already injected $500 million worth of BTC into native protocols like Bluefin and AlphaLend, accounting for nearly 10% of Sui’s total TVL a massive development for any chain, let alone a non-EVM one.
Institutional Interest Is Heating Up
It’s not just retail and DeFi users paying attention institutions are watching, too. A recent Nasdaq 19b-4 filing for a spot SUI ETF and $300 million in inflows into Sui-based exchange-traded products (ETPs) in Europe highlight growing interest from traditional finance. This kind of validation could help sustain and accelerate SUI’s rally.
Is a Breakout Imminent?
From a technical standpoint, SUI is flirting with a big move. According to market analyst Rekt Capital, the token has spent most of 2025 consolidating in a macro triangle pattern, trading between support and resistance. Now, it’s testing the upper boundary of that triangle.
A weekly close above this resistance would confirm a breakout, potentially opening the door for a trend continuation toward and beyond the $4 mark.
“SUI is one Weekly Close above the diagonal resistance away from kickstarting trend continuation to the upside,” said Rekt Capital on Twitter.
Looking Ahead
Reclaiming $4 would be more than just a psychological win it would signal that Sui is back in business and regaining its leadership among Layer 1 blockchains. With TVL climbing, token momentum building, and institutional support emerging, the pieces are in place for SUI to push even higher in the coming weeks.
