The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has begun a 21-day public comment period on a new filing from Canary Capital for a staked Injective ETF, marking another step forward for staking-based investment products in the U.S.
If approved, the fund would track the Injective (INJ) token while also integrating staking rewards for investors. Trading would take place on the Cboe BZX Exchange, with the structure backed by a Delaware trust Canary set up earlier this year a typical precursor to an ETF launch.
Why It Matters
While staking ETFs have already debuted overseas for example, 21Shares’ Injective Staking ETP in Europe — U.S. approval would represent a significant milestone. The proposal comes as interest in crypto ETFs continues to grow, particularly those tied to proof-of-stake blockchains.
Just last month, the SEC gave the green light to the first Solana staking ETF, managed by REX-Osprey, signaling a shift toward a more permissive stance on staking-linked products. Regulators have clarified that many staking and liquid staking features are not considered securities, lowering barriers for issuers.
Canary’s Growing ETF Ambitions
This filing is just one of several moves by Canary. Recently, the firm submitted paperwork for its “Made in America” crypto ETF, which would focus on U.S.-based blockchain projects like Uniswap (UNI), Chainlink (LINK), Solana (SOL), and Injective (INJ), with staking included where possible. Canary also made headlines with its application for a spot Trump (TRUMP) ETF, following the registration of a dedicated trust earlier in August.
A Step Forward for Staking Products
With the Injective ETF proposal now open for public input, the SEC has up to 90 days to decide its next steps. If approved, the product would not only broaden investor access to Injective but also solidify staking ETFs as a growing trend in U.S. markets.
👉 The outcome of this review could help determine how quickly staking-based ETFs gain traction on Wall Street, shaping the next wave of crypto investment products.
