Japanese consulting company Remixpoint has made history, becoming the first publicly listed firm in the country to pay its CEO’s entire salary in Bitcoin.
In an official statement, Remixpoint’s CEO, Yoshihiko Takahashi, revealed that choosing to receive his compensation in BTC was his own decision. He sees it as both a show of commitment to the company’s Bitcoin-focused strategy and a way to align himself more closely with the firm’s shareholders.
“My decision to receive my entire compensation in Bitcoin is a clear signal that I am ‘in the same boat’ as our shareholders,” Yoshihiko explained.
The move stems partly from shareholders urging Remixpoint’s leadership to hold company stock, so executives’ fortunes would mirror those of investors. However, regulatory restrictions, including concerns over insider trading, prevent Remixpoint from holding its own shares.
Instead, the company proposed an alternative solution: paying its President entirely in Bitcoin.
“By receiving compensation in Bitcoin, the company’s leadership will share the same economic fate as shareholders, fostering a system that aligns economic value with investors,” Remixpoint stated.
The announcement coincides with a period of relative stability in the Bitcoin market. As of July 8, 2025, Bitcoin is trading at $108,461, down about 0.45% over the past 24 hours, though it’s up roughly 1.59% in the past week and 3.3% over the last two weeks.
In recent months, more companies worldwide have shown interest in adopting Bitcoin, issuing shares and raising capital to build corporate BTC treasuries. But Remixpoint has gone a step further, becoming one of the first public companies to pay salaries directly in Bitcoin.
Unlike some newcomers jumping on the Bitcoin trend, Remixpoint is no stranger to crypto. The company has been holding Bitcoin on its balance sheet since September 2024. According to data from Bitcoin Treasuries, Remixpoint currently holds 1,051 BTC, valued at around $114.03 million.
The move signals yet another example of how cryptocurrency is weaving itself deeper into corporate finance and how some executives are betting their personal income on its future.
