Genius Group, a Singapore-based edtech and AI-driven platform listed on NYSE American, has significantly expanded its Bitcoin (BTC) holdings after a U.S. court ruling cleared the path for new crypto purchases. The company announced a 52% increase in its BTC treasury, marking a pivotal step toward its long-term goal of holding 1,000 BTC.
100 BTC Milestone Achieved
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CEO Roger Hamilton confirmed that Genius Group acquired 34 additional BTC over the past month. The purchases were made at an average price of $100,600 per coin, totaling roughly $10.06 million in investment. With this latest addition, the company’s corporate Bitcoin treasury now holds 100 BTC.
“This is a significant milestone,” Hamilton stated. “We’re pleased to be able to have regained the right to manage our company’s capital in the way our Board and shareholders see fit.”
Legal Roadblock Cleared
The renewed acquisition spree follows a May 6 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals, which overturned a March 13 preliminary injunction issued by a New York District Court. That earlier ruling had temporarily blocked Genius Group from buying additional crypto amid ongoing litigation tied to its merger with Fatbrain AI.
The lifted restriction now allows the company to resume implementing its capital management strategy, which includes building one of the most substantial Bitcoin treasuries in the education-tech space.
A Trend in Corporate Bitcoin Accumulation
Genius Group’s move mirrors a broader trend of corporate adoption of Bitcoin as a reserve asset:
- The Blockchain Group recently raised €7.2 million (approx. $7.7 million) to scale its Bitcoin treasury ambitions in Europe.
- Metaplanet in Japan crossed its 10,000 BTC target with a fresh purchase of 1,112 BTC.
- In the U.S., Michael Saylor’s MicroStrategy (Strategy) added 10,100 BTC, continuing its aggressive accumulation strategy.
Looking Ahead: A 1,000 BTC Vision
Genius Group’s current 100 BTC holding is only the beginning. The company has reiterated its long-term objective to accumulate 1,000 BTC, positioning itself as a forward-thinking leader in both education and digital asset strategy.
