Bybit is officially entering the decentralized exchange space with the debut of Byreal, its first incubated on-chain liquidity network, set to launch by the end of June 2025. The announcement was made by Ben Zhou, CEO of Bybit, in a post on X, where he called the new platform “what real hybrid finance looks like.”
Built natively on the Solana blockchain, Byreal aims to bridge the gap between centralized exchange (CEX) efficiency and decentralized exchange (DEX) transparency delivering what Zhou described as a “CEX + DEX synergy.”
A New Kind of Liquidity Layer
Zhou emphasized that Byreal is not just another DEX. It will offer CEX-grade liquidity combined with DeFi-native transparency, using a hybrid liquidity model that merges Request for Quote (RFQ) and Concentrated Liquidity Market Maker (CLMM) systems.
- RFQ is commonly used in institutional and OTC markets, enabling professional market makers to quote prices in real time for larger and more efficient trades.
- CLMM, popularized by Uniswap v3, allows liquidity providers to allocate capital within specific price ranges—deepening liquidity where it’s needed most.
By integrating both models, Byreal aims to route trades through optimal pricing paths while offering users low-slippage, MEV-protected swaps and fast execution speeds all critical features for both retail and professional crypto traders.
Beta Testing Set for June
According to Zhou, beta testing for Byreal is scheduled to begin within the month, ahead of its official mainnet release. The platform is expected to be part of a larger hybrid finance push by Bybit, with hints of additional products or launch integrations to follow.
“This is what real hybrid finance looks like. Future CEX + DEX project launch coming soon,” Zhou teased, hinting at a broader roadmap.
A Strategic Pivot After $1.4 Billion Hack
The launch comes just months after Bybit suffered one of the largest crypto exchange hacks in history, when $1.4 billion in Ethereum (ETH) was stolen from its reserves. By the end of May, on-chain analytics revealed that at least half of the stolen ETH had become untraceable, raising concerns over fund recovery and security.
Byreal’s launch on Solana may represent both a strategic and reputational reset for the exchange, pushing innovation in on-chain finance while regaining user trust through transparent and secure protocols.
Byreal positions itself as a next-gen decentralized liquidity layer melding CEX power with DEX principles. If successful, it could reshape how liquidity aggregation and order execution work in the DeFi space, especially on Solana.
