Zcash has maintained its strong momentum after a major rally, but technical indicators are now warning traders that the cryptocurrency could face a short-term pullback.
The Zcash price holds above $1,200 after climbing more than 50% in seven days, reaching a multi-year high near $1,257 before losing some momentum.
At the time of reporting, ZEC was trading around $1,216, down approximately 2.26% during the session. Despite the decline, Zcash remains one of the strongest-performing large-cap cryptocurrencies during the recent market move.
However, rising RSI levels, a new sell signal, and nearby liquidation zones suggest that traders should watch key support levels closely.
Zcash Rally Pushes Price Above $1,200
Zcash started its recent breakout near $814 on Sept. 4 and quickly moved above the important $1,000 psychological level.
The rally pushed ZEC into the $1,249–$1,257 range, marking its highest level in several years before buyers began losing momentum.
The move was supported partly by derivatives activity, with reports showing more than $34.5 million in ZEC short positions were liquidated during a 24-hour period.
Short liquidations accounted for the majority of the reported liquidations, creating additional buying pressure as bearish traders were forced to close positions.
However, strong leverage-driven rallies can also increase volatility if traders begin taking profits.
Daily Indicators Show ZEC Is Overextended
Zcash’s daily chart shows that the cryptocurrency is trading significantly above its major moving averages.
Current moving average levels include:
- 20-day SMA: $942.96
- 50-day SMA: $679.76
- 100-day SMA: $573.86
- 200-day SMA: $468.71
The large distance between ZEC’s current price and these averages reflects strong bullish momentum, but it also increases the possibility of a correction as prices move back toward historical averages.
The daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) is currently around 75.72, placing Zcash in overbought territory.
An RSI above 70 often indicates strong buying momentum but can also signal that a market may need consolidation before continuing higher.
If RSI cools while price remains stable, the market could reset and prepare for another move upward. However, a sharp price decline alongside falling RSI would indicate weakening momentum.
$1,196 Becomes Important Short-Term Support
On the 4-hour chart, Zcash is testing a key support area near the middle Bollinger Band.
The current levels traders are watching include:
- Immediate support: $1,196
- Lower support: $1,105
- Major psychological support: $1,000
- Resistance: $1,287
- Next upside target: $1,300
A successful defense of the $1,196 level could allow bulls to challenge the $1,287 resistance zone.
However, losing this support could increase selling pressure and push ZEC toward the $1,100 region.
The Awesome Oscillator remains positive, showing that short-term momentum is still bullish, although decreasing histogram bars suggest the rally is slowing.
Liquidation Zones Create Volatility Risk
Zcash’s liquidation heatmap shows significant liquidity areas above and below the current price.
Major upside liquidity zones appear around:
- $1,245–$1,270
- $1,290–$1,305
- $1,320
A move higher into these areas could trigger additional short liquidations and support another price push.
On the downside, important liquidity zones are located around:
- $1,195–$1,200
- $1,170
- $1,105
A breakdown below $1,200 could pressure leveraged long positions and accelerate the decline.
Analysts Warn of Possible ZEC Pullback
Market analysts have highlighted several warning signs after Zcash’s rapid advance.
The TD Sequential indicator reportedly generated a sell signal on Zcash’s three-day chart, suggesting that the asset may be due for a period of consolidation.
Analysts noted that previous signals from the indicator have sometimes been followed by significant corrections, although historical patterns do not guarantee future price movements.
Another market view suggests that ZEC could benefit from building a stronger base between $1,000 and $1,100 before attempting another major rally.
A controlled pullback could allow the market to remove excessive leverage and create healthier conditions for future gains.
Zcash Outlook Depends on Key Price Levels
Zcash remains in a strong uptrend, but traders are now watching whether the rally can continue without a deeper correction.
A move above $1,287–$1,300 would strengthen the bullish outlook and potentially open the path toward new highs.
On the other hand, a sustained decline below $1,196 could shift attention toward $1,105 and the previous breakout zone near $1,000.
For now, Zcash is balancing strong bullish momentum against signs of market exhaustion, making upcoming price action critical for determining the next major trend.
