Ethereum is showing renewed strength after rebounding sharply from recent lows, with the second-largest cryptocurrency climbing from $1,800 to an intraday high of nearly $1,945. The recovery has been supported by a strong rally in U.S. technology stocks, renewed institutional demand through spot Ethereum ETFs, and improving market sentiment.
Although ETH has regained the $1,900 level, traders remain focused on whether buyers can push the price above the key psychological resistance at $2,000.
Wall Street rally fuels Ethereum recovery
Ethereum’s latest gains coincided with a strong session for U.S. equity markets, where technology stocks led the broader rally.
The Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.3%, while the S&P 500 gained 0.9%, driven by optimism surrounding artificial intelligence and upcoming corporate earnings. Semiconductor stocks performed particularly well, with Micron surging more than 12% and Nvidia adding another 2%.
The improved appetite for risk encouraged investors to return to cryptocurrencies, helping Ethereum recover more than 6% from its July 21 low.
Institutional investors continue buying Ethereum
Institutional demand has also remained supportive.
According to SoSoValue, U.S. spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $37.47 million in net inflows during the latest trading session.
BlackRock’s ETHA ETF attracted approximately $52.7 million, more than offsetting withdrawals from Fidelity’s FETH fund.
Steady ETF inflows continue to reinforce confidence among investors and provide additional support for Ethereum’s ongoing recovery.
Ethereum outperforms Bitcoin in the third quarter
Ethereum has also started outperforming Bitcoin after a difficult first half of the year.
Crypto analyst Daan Crypto Trades noted that ETH declined more than 29% during the first quarter and another 25% in the second quarter. However, the trend has reversed in Q3, with Ethereum gaining nearly 23%, significantly outperforming its historical third-quarter average.
Despite Ethereum’s recent strength, Daan emphasized that Bitcoin still plays a leading role in determining overall market direction.
If Bitcoin maintains its bullish momentum, Ethereum could continue extending its gains. However, any major correction in Bitcoin could quickly slow the recovery across the broader altcoin market.
Technical breakout keeps $2,000 within reach
Ethereum’s daily chart continues to show a constructive technical setup.
Since bottoming near $1,514 in late June, ETH has been trading inside a well-defined ascending channel while consistently forming higher lows.
The price now remains comfortably above its 20-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) around $1,828, indicating buyers continue to control the broader trend.
The next important resistance lies between $1,945 and $1,953.
Ethereum has tested this area multiple times but has yet to secure a convincing daily close above it.
If buyers successfully break through that zone, the next targets become the 100-day SMA near $1,981, followed by the highly anticipated $2,000 level.
Momentum indicators remain supportive
Technical indicators continue favoring the bulls, although momentum has cooled slightly after the recent rally.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) on the daily chart sits around 64, remaining below the overbought threshold of 70 while still signaling healthy buying momentum.
On the four-hour chart, short-term momentum has eased following rejection near $1,945, but Ethereum continues to hold its rising trendline support, preserving the overall bullish market structure.
As long as higher lows continue forming, buyers remain in control.
Liquidation levels could accelerate the next move
Market positioning suggests volatility may increase if Ethereum breaks higher.
According to CoinGlass, the largest concentration of leveraged short positions sits between $1,950 and $1,960.
A breakout above this resistance could trigger a wave of short liquidations, providing additional buying pressure that may quickly push ETH toward $2,000.
On the downside, leveraged positions are heavily concentrated around $1,900, $1,880, and $1,840, making these levels important support zones if selling pressure returns.
Key support levels remain critical
While the overall trend remains positive, Ethereum must continue holding above its recent support levels.
Analysts identify the $1,870–$1,900 area as the first major demand zone.
A decline below $1,859 would weaken the current recovery and increase the risk of a pullback toward the 20-day SMA near $1,828.
If ETH loses that support as well, the next downside target could emerge around $1,785, potentially delaying any attempt to reclaim the $2,000 mark.
Outlook remains cautiously bullish
Ethereum continues to benefit from improving market sentiment, strong ETF inflows, and positive technical momentum.
The cryptocurrency has maintained its ascending trend above $1,900, and a decisive daily close above $1,953 would significantly strengthen the case for a move toward $2,000 and potentially higher.
However, traders should also monitor broader macroeconomic conditions, including rising oil prices and inflation concerns, as these factors could reduce demand for higher-risk assets if market sentiment deteriorates.
For now, Ethereum’s technical structure remains constructive, with buyers firmly focused on breaking the next major resistance.
