XRP is facing a crucial test as its price moves closer to the $1 support zone ahead of the XRP Ledger’s expected 3.2.0 upgrade on June 15.
The token traded near $1.15 on June 9 after falling almost 17% from its June 1 high of around $1.39. During last week’s market-wide liquidation event, XRP briefly dropped to nearly $1.05 before buyers stepped in and pushed the price higher.
Although the upcoming XRPL upgrade could strengthen long-term confidence in the network, traders remain focused on whether XRP can defend the $1.04 to $1.00 range.
XRPL 3.2.0 Brings Key Infrastructure Changes
The XRPL 3.2.0 upgrade will rename the network’s core server software from rippled to xrpld. This change is designed to better reflect the XRP Ledger’s independent technical identity beyond Ripple-branded infrastructure.
The update is also expected to improve network performance for node operators. Developers have suggested that server memory usage could drop by as much as 40%, making it easier and more efficient for infrastructure providers to support the ledger.
The upgrade follows XRPL 3.1.3, which delivered fixes for NFTs, Permissioned Domains, Vaults, the Lending Protocol, and Multi-Purpose Tokens.
Upgrade May Help the Network, but Price Still Needs Demand
While the upgrade is positive for XRPL’s infrastructure, it does not automatically guarantee stronger XRP price action.
Network improvements can support long-term adoption, especially as activity grows across DeFi, tokenization, stablecoins, and real-world asset use cases. However, short-term price movement still depends heavily on market demand, liquidity, and broader crypto sentiment.
At the moment, traders appear more concerned about weak technical indicators and the risk of XRP losing the $1 support area.
XRP Price Faces Major Support Near $1
XRP is currently trading below several important technical levels. On the weekly chart, the token has fallen under a descending trendline that has limited rallies since its previous peak.
The next major support sits near $1.04, close to the 1.0 Fibonacci retracement level. If this area breaks, analysts believe XRP could move toward $0.90.
Crypto analyst Ali Martinez has identified $0.90 as a key long-term support level and a possible buying zone if XRP continues falling.
Technical Indicators Remain Weak
Momentum indicators still show pressure on XRP.
The weekly RSI is near 31, close to oversold territory, while the MACD remains below the signal line. This suggests that sellers still have control despite the recent rebound.
On the daily chart, short-term momentum has improved slightly, but capital flow remains negative. That means buyers have not yet shown enough strength to confirm a full reversal.
What Bulls Need to See
For XRP to avoid a deeper decline, buyers need to defend the $1.04 to $1.00 support range.
A stronger recovery would require XRP to reclaim $1.30 first. After that, the next major resistance area sits between $1.45 and $1.60.
A move above $1.60 would weaken the bearish structure and bring the $2.04 level back into focus.
Final Thoughts
The XRPL 3.2.0 upgrade is an important milestone for the XRP Ledger. It could improve performance, reduce memory usage, and strengthen the network’s infrastructure as adoption grows.
However, the upgrade alone may not be enough to stop XRP from falling below $1 if broader market pressure continues.
For now, the key level to watch is the $1.04 to $1.00 support zone. If buyers defend it, XRP could stabilize before the upgrade. If it fails, the next major downside target may be $0.90.
