Solana-based token launch platform Pump.fun has rolled out a major update to its fee structure, giving token creators a new choice: keep creator fees or redirect them entirely to traders.
The new feature, called “Cashback Coins,” allows deployers to send 100% of creator fees back to traders instead of collecting them themselves.
The change signals a shift in how incentives are structured within the fast-moving memecoin ecosystem.
How Cashback Coins Work
Under the updated system, token creators must select one of two models before launch:
- Creator Fees – Fees generated by the token go to the deployer.
- Trader Cashback – 100% of creator fees are redirected to traders.
Once a token goes live, the decision is permanently locked and cannot be changed.
If the Trader Cashback option is selected, deployers forgo fee revenue entirely, and rewards are distributed to traders and holders instead.
Users can claim cashback rewards directly through the Pump.fun app by navigating to their profile and accessing the rewards section.
Why Pump.fun Made the Change
Creator fees have traditionally been designed to support project teams, fund development, and incentivize long-term growth.
However, Pump.fun acknowledged that many tokens gain momentum without an active team or roadmap. In such cases, creator fees can disproportionately reward deployers who may not provide ongoing value.
In a public statement, the platform said “not every token deserves Creator Fees,” positioning the new system as a way to better align incentives.
By introducing Cashback Coins, Pump.fun aims to let the market decide who gets rewarded founders or traders.
Locked Structures and Community Limits
The platform clarified that “community takeovers” cannot be carried out on Cashback Coins. Tokens launched under this model will permanently reward traders rather than the original deployer.
Similarly, tokens launched with Creator Fees will remain locked under that structure.
This ensures transparency and prevents fee model changes after a token gains traction.
