Binance has expanded its prepaid Mastercard crypto card to selected Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) markets, allowing verified users to spend crypto directly at checkout while merchants receive fiat or crypto.
The rollout includes countries such as Armenia, marking Binance’s latest push to grow crypto payments adoption beyond the European Economic Area.
How the Binance Mastercard crypto card works
The Binance Mastercard enables users to convert digital assets into local fiat instantly at the point of sale. Supported assets include:
- Bitcoin
- Ethereum
- Major stablecoins
- More than 100 additional tokens
Cardholders can use the prepaid crypto card for both in-store and online payments anywhere Mastercard is accepted.
Unlike traditional crypto cards that require pre-conversion into fiat, Binance executes the crypto-to-fiat exchange automatically at checkout. This allows users to hold their digital assets until the moment they make a purchase.
Funding options and regional support
Users in CIS countries can fund their accounts in multiple ways:
- USD deposits via debit or credit cards
- Apple Pay and Google Pay
- Local payment rails in certain jurisdictions
For example:
- In Uzbekistan, users can deposit Uzbek som via the Humo network.
- In Kazakhstan, customers can top up in tenge through local banks and Mastercard channels.
The card is available only to verified Binance users who complete full identity verification and anti-money laundering checks.
According to Binance, there are no administrative, processing, or annual fees charged by the exchange, although third-party fees may still apply.
Cashback and Valentine’s promotion
The crypto-linked payment card offers up to 2% cashback on qualifying purchases, subject to monthly caps.
To coincide with the launch, Binance introduced a Valentine-themed promotional campaign featuring a pink-token reward pool. The campaign runs for approximately one month or until rewards are fully distributed.
Participants can earn rewards by:
- Referring friends
- Topping up wallets
- Trading on Spot and Futures markets
Eligible reward tokens include AMP, UNI, and DOT, identified with a pink icon within the Binance platform.
Scam warnings amid Valentine season
Separately, U.S. prosecutors have warned that Valentine’s Day is peak season for romance-related crypto scams.
The US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio cautioned that fraudsters often build trust over weeks or months before persuading victims to transfer crypto to fraudulent investment platforms.
Authorities highlighted common red flags:
- Requests to move conversations to private messaging apps
- Early declarations of love
- Refusal to meet in person
- Requests for crypto, gift cards, or wire transfers
Officials urged users to verify identities and avoid sending funds to unverified platforms.
Binance expands global card footprint
Prior to the CIS rollout, Binance had launched its Mastercard crypto card across numerous European countries. The latest expansion extends its crypto payment infrastructure deeper into emerging markets.
As exchanges compete to bridge digital assets with everyday spending, crypto debit and prepaid cards are increasingly positioned as key tools for mainstream adoption.
