Bitcoin is once again under pressure, sliding close to the $70,000 mark as investors pull back from risk and institutional demand continues to cool. The latest drop has shaken confidence across the crypto market, with Bitcoin now trading at its lowest levels since late 2024.
Over the past week alone, Bitcoin has lost nearly 20% of its value, wiping out a large portion of the gains it built earlier in the year. The decline has not happened in isolation. Weak macroeconomic signals, shaky equity markets, and fading ETF demand have combined to create a difficult environment for risk assets.
A major trigger came from traditional markets. Tech stocks sold off sharply after chipmaker AMD issued a disappointing revenue outlook, sending shockwaves through the semiconductor sector. At the same time, U.S. labor data showed private payroll growth far below expectations, reinforcing fears that economic momentum is slowing. Bitcoin closely tracked this risk-off move, mirroring losses in the Nasdaq as investors reduced exposure across speculative assets.
Institutional demand, which previously acted as a cushion during pullbacks, has also faded. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have recorded roughly $2.9 billion in outflows over the past 12 trading days. Since November 2025, total withdrawals have climbed to nearly $6 billion, signaling that large investors are stepping back rather than buying the dip.
For much of last year, ETF inflows helped stabilize Bitcoin during periods of volatility. With that support now weakening, price action has become more fragile, and each sell-off has had a stronger impact.
From a technical perspective, the picture has also turned darker. Bitcoin has confirmed a bearish inverse cup-and-handle pattern on the daily chart, a formation that often precedes extended downside moves. The price has slipped below key moving averages, with short-term indicators crossing into bearish territory.
More importantly, Bitcoin has lost several psychological and structural support levels, including $75,000 and the April low near $74,600. As sellers remain in control, traders are increasingly watching whether the $70,000 level can hold.
If that support fails, analysts warn that Bitcoin could drift toward deeper liquidity zones around $65,000 or even $60,000 before meaningful demand returns. While long-term fundamentals remain intact, the short-term outlook is dominated by caution, reduced liquidity, and uncertainty around macro conditions.
For now, Bitcoin is trading less like a hedge and more like a high-beta risk asset. Until institutional flows stabilize and broader markets regain confidence, rallies are likely to face selling pressure rather than spark a sustained recovery.
